The only people who can currently put up any fight for dominant world power is china, and not because of technology, but because of sheer numbers.

The US has a relatively small military force in comparison to other countries, but we have some of the best trained militants in the world, and certainly some of the most advanced technology (and lots of it). China has an absurdly large military because it forces service on its population and I am sure you are all well aware of the population density of China. No european nation is even close to being able to compete on a similar level to that of the US.

I got a question to ask. If you don't know how god was created, and you state that it is to complicated to know. Then how do you know religion exist with just the writings of humans. Isn't that too complicated to know without proof?

Also another question, if you pray for someone that lost his/her arm or leg will it grow back?

Not trying to discourage you from your religion I would just like to hear someones insight that believes in the Christian religion.

Here's for the people that say "you just have to believe in religion," well what about big foot? I had this discussion with my mom which is a firm believer of the Christian faith and she just made crap up like everyone else.

If you give me a solid answer then I will respect what you believe. People get since other people try to push people from their religion, but what about the Christians that condone agnostics?

I didn't mention atheists because I think people that "know there is no god are ignorant". It basically is the opposite of relgion I could ask you similar questions if you are atheist, such as "how do you know there is no god"?

I have been to church almost every Sunday for the past 7 years because I was forced, so I would not like to hear that I don't know what im talking about. I also can tell you 70% of the people in every church I have been in I noticed how people are fake. I noticed how people would try to get saved, speak in tongues, etc... to sorta "show off" kinda how the super rich use there ferrari enzos to say, "I have a Ferrari Enzo" what about you? The only thing I don't have against religion is how there are very good values taught to the younger people to show they shouldn't steal, kill, etc... though I think it would help if most families were civil in the first place.

Anyways you had my take on it, when you comment back I will reply.

Someone brought up a very interesting point to me the other day while arguing the basis of religion.

If you are an atheist, or otherwise non-religious person, please take the time to read this.

I can't say I completely agree with this, but it is a logical explanation of why you should be saved.

    ---

If you want to argue that someone should be 'saved,' and don't want to simply spit out the traditional stand-bys of faith and honor (which are viable reasons in themselves), here is a theory for you.

    Why even take the chance?

Why not become saved, live your life like you mean it, and repent of your sin? Why even take the chance, no matter how remote, of going to hell when you could live a happy, productive, love-based life and then, when you die, at least have the chance to attain eternal peace?

Really, it's a matter of probability. If you want to gamble with your afterlife, it's your choice, but why not 'have your bases covered?'

It makes logical sense to have all possibilities accounted for.

    ---

Not saying I agree, but what do you guys think of this? Seriously, why even take the chance?

Well speaking on Churches, I have heard there are numerous churches that are like the ones you described which not only makes people turn away from Christianity but also makes us all look bad when a majority of us aren't.

All the people at my church are as real as anyone else, they don't profess to be something they aren't, they all have middle class lifestyles as 3/4 of the people in my area.

As for the praying for an arm or leg to grow back, it's what God decides. You can pray for something for years and not have it happen unless God wants it to happen. If you pray for something once, it may very well come true. People think this sucks but that's how it is. It's not upto us.

And to answer the complicated question, you simply don't. It may very well not be truth but it's upto us a humans to make that decision for ourselves. Whether we deny something purely because we can't see it or there is no solid proof it exists or whether we accept it on blind faith, in the end it only matters as to what the truth is but we shall not know until death.

Who is to say that following the faith is not a gamble? Why not follow a cult? If someone is in a cult and writes that you should worship hitler or whomever they choose or you don't go to heaven, why not believe that? How is that much different than the catholics worshiping the pope, or idols they have?

I understand you may not completely believe that, its just for the person that asked you that... though you could answer if you like.

That was very well put. First person that actually made since I have ever discussed religion with.

Also I have to disagree with you about the churches... I have been to well over 5 churches in the past 7 years, and I see the same type of people in in everyone. The longer I go, the more people I notice how they change depending on who they talk to. I actually go to many people's houses that are "firm Christian believers" and notice how different they are than when they are in church. I have been to a church that was pentecostal and realized how stuck up everyone was, the funny thing is that I wasn't the only person that thought this. Come to find out about 5 other people I knew stop going to church for the same reason, also not this wasn't a small church it had well over 2000+ people. Just to name a couple I have been to Joel Osteen's church, Grace(seats 10,000+ people), a pentacostal church, a baptist church, and currently a Presbyterian church which I see more fake people on than anyone I have been too. I have witnessed so many things it would take me many days to just write them all. So I don't believe it's just certain churches im sure there is a number of people like this in almost every church, you just have to see around their fakeness.

No shit? I have read the scriptures, the NIV bible being the one I have read the most, I was relating to his comment about how America won't be a world power for long. It has nothing to do with the anti-christ.

The answer to that is simple. If as an individual you are already in doubt, why would you change being content to living in false hope? False hope is exactly what almost every religious nut I know of proclaims. When you sit down and ask an individual why they believe in God (capital, ie of christian / catholic belief) almost all of them say because you can't deny him. Yes, that is obvious enough, look at the world around you and then look at what science can prove and disprove. The only thing science can't prove (yet) is how everything came to be, nor can religion (for the sole reason that something cannot exist from nothing, this is common sense and if God created everything then what created God... the most common answer is man). This is the stand still. Either you trust in hope (or faith, as people would like to call it), or you trust in what is known via scientific tests and generations of study. Personally, I am a logical and non-emotional person. The individuals whom know me know that I am a logical and non emotional person. When an individual dies, whether it be a family member, friend, friends family, etc. I feel no different than I did a second earlier because I look at it logically and not emotionally. Its both a strength and a weakness.

Most people, when asked about God, and why they believe, choose to believe because they see it as the only viable answer, and their particular faith just happened to get to them first. You can't deny the existence of something greater than us, to do so would be to remain completely ignorant to the world around you. Therefore, they find the first religion or the most common religion and they choose to believe that whichever deity the faith revolves around is the one that created everything, and that is the entire basis of their so called faith. This can be from a simple church goer, or simply a believer, or a pastor / father / priest / rabbi / etc. I remember, when I was forced to go to church, when a pastor at my church sat me down privately after stating something in a group chat that disturbed him. He asked me why I didn't believe in God. At first I didn't care to explain it to him, but then I realized he wasn't asking to try to change my belief, but to rather understand my beliefs. I explained to him my understanding, which took multiple hours and 2 meals (which he paid for) before he had nothing left to ask me or tell me and then he took me home. He later took a leave of absence from the church for personal reasons (to investigate other religions and their beliefs and to find what he truly believed himself) and he has not been back at the church since. This was... roughly 4 years ago.

When push comes to shove, religious people generally have no clue about what they are believing in, which is what agitates me. As a logical person, I seek to increase my knowledge of everything, which is why I have invested weeks / months of my life towards reading religious scriptures, most books multiple times. Highlighting, taking notes, discussions with religious leaders of said religions, etc. The advancement of personal knowledge is a powerful tool. If an individual has opened their eyes to all the possibilities and still insists on believing in a particular organized religion, so be it, I won't judge, as no one is right in the argument. It is the individuals who believe blindly that agitate me beyond belief. Those who believe because of the people closest to them having them go to church and only learning about 1 belief, those individuals who fall to peer pressure of friends and family to believe in one thing (and obviously not question it), and those people who believe just to have hope. That is the reason why I put up such a debate whenever something of religious origin comes up here, and it has never failed.

Every time I ask 'why' its never a reason for the cause, it is a fall back because nothing else explains their questions (such as nothing can explain why we are all here, or what made us). When I ask if they looked into science or any other religions, most of them reply with no, and their only reason is because, 'this suits me just fine'. Frankly, that is a load of crock. You don't buy 50 pairs of pants from the same company without trying on their pants first. You don't buy 10 holiday hams without first checking the quality of the meat. You don't buy a new car for your family before taking it out for a test drive. Why is religion any different? You shouldn't place all of your faith and hope into a single thing until you have tried out everything within your personal belief system, its just stupid to not. If you disagree, I encourage you to go drop 5,000 to 20,000 on a brand new car that you see in the parking lot because it looks nice. Don't test drive it, don't ask any questions, don't even look at another car, or you are cheating, just go buy the first car that looks appealing. None of you will, because that is stupid, but so many of you who see the stupidity in that don't see the stupidity in believing in something without questioning it, or test driving it and the other things around it.

I find it kinda odd that you posted this since I posted pretty much the answer to your whole question on the previous page, and I don't mean my opinion, I mean the correct answer. But I'll summarise.

1/According to almost every religion you will only truely be righteous and gain access to heaven/whatever other reward zone there is if you follow the faith correctly and properly believe in God. Just "picking a religion on the off chance it's right" isn't gonna save you.
2/There are a -----ton of religions, how are we meant to know which one to follow? If there was just atheism or christianity then your arguement would kinda make sense but there are so many religions picking one at random isn't going to increase your saviour chances much.

I also find it a bit alarming that you say by choosing religion you would lead "a happy, productive, love-based life" - That is so much crap, a lot of religious people have ----ty lives and a lot of athiests have wonderful lives, your quality of living is not related to your faith.

And for a final note, almost every Christian I know, even the most extreme ones, have "sinned" in their life, whether they accept it or not. Christianity does not make you a perfect person.

Exactly. The point of Christianity is to accept that you have sinned and that Jesus died for your sins. When you can accept that and truly believe that God is our Lord and Saviour, then and only then will you be allowed into Heaven.

    Atleast, I think that's right.
