Dude, you gotta show me those pictures! I've already determined: next when I can afford it, I'm buying a wide angle lens. I'm sick of not having a good one! I just have the one that came with my camera, but the glass isn't very high quality...

I'm still willing to put images on dA, ya'll know that, right? No one has submitted anything in a looong time. I don't want it to be filled with my own stuff, so I haven't put anything up...

And slight, instead of buying a new camera, buy some accessories. I had someone tell me recently that an incident light meter is one of the first things you should buy after getting your camera. One meter that has impressed me is the L-358 Flash Meter. It's simple but has every feature you would need. Unfortunately, the list price is $429. I could get it for $210 (which I don't have) because I'm a photography major, but you'd have to find it somewhere cheaper. Heck, if I had $13,000, I would go buy a Mamiya camera right now! It's normally $30,000, you know. Bleh, college students have no money. Maybe I'll try and win a new camera...

Another important factor to remember is that there are different camera bodies for different types of shooting. There's also 8 bit vs 16 bit and what format you're shooting in. Wait until you know exactly what you want to do before you buy your next camera. There's a reason that I'm going to wait, although I've an idea of what I want. Mostly I just want a new view finder that offers dual images :(. Mine is terribly difficult to focus because the view finder makes the image too sharp.

There's lots of other accessories to buy. Lenses, filters, tripods (Induro carbon fiber ^_^), meters, remotes, lights/strobes, backpacks. The list goes on. It's not the camera that makes the good picture either, it's the photographer. Don't think that having the Sony a300 will magically improve your images. If you buy another camera, buy a fast one and a wireless remote and two receivers to trigger both cameras at once. That's really the only reason to buy another one, but I don't think you should try that right now...

I say 100% yes :). The fact that you can take those photos on such a camera just makes me wonder what will happen when you get an SLR. You get so much more versatility with an SLR. It'll take a while to get the hang of, but when you do, it'll be like it's a part of you. Seriously. It's weird how natural things are becoming with my camera.

I am glad that you think so. You see how much noise I get in low-light scenarios? I have fiddled with every setting possible to get better results, but nothing.

Yes, that's related to your camera automatically changing your ISO to its maximum. I don't know how high point and shoots can go, but they seem capable of going to ISO 1600, which gives crazy noise.

At the very least, you've learned a lot about noise reduction

Hey guys, I think we should all band together and try to create a stock pack of our personal photos. We might not be able to use a bunch of costumes, but we can still pose :). If you know anyone comfortable in front of a camera, you should ask them to model for you. Much easier than using yourself.

Figure we should give back to the community, and it'll help point people in our direction :).

Mr. Maché, you're pretty much already in. No telling when Geox will find the time to edit the first post. The deviantART page is still active, just no one is submitting stuff. I still check it. So feel free to submit anything you like to me on there. If you don't have a dA account, you can either register for one, or send me the information on here. :)

I probably won't start submitting anything until I get my new camera, which should be within the next two weeks.
