I kinda found an area of photography that I really like. Spontaneous Portraiture. Taking portraits without poses and direction. No fussy models, no fussing over lighting and getting the model in the perfect position. Just take the picture. Here's my two favorites so far. Click on them to go to DA. Haha yeah he didn't like it either. I kinda darkened him a bit too much I think. And what? You don't know both movies? The Dark Knight and Zoolander Zoolander is like the best movie ever. For real. ORANGE MOCHA FRAPPUCCINOS!
I like the face, lighting, and composition of the first one ^_^. I think the problem with the second one is the balance and flow of the image. The balance feels a bit off... Also, the white cap and shirt is drawing our attention away from your subject. Maybe if he'd been a tiny bit more in the frame (the ear is bothering me), and the background had been different. There's a few different factors throwing the image off, mainly that the background doesn't seem to fit his expression. I really like the concept of it and his facial expression though . Nice pictures . I think the hardest part about this area is trying to get all your factors to work together. Altogether, I think you did a great job.
Thank you very much +rep for the great critique I've actually been looking at that second photo a lot trying to figure out what I could do differently with it, and I've decided I don't like it as much as I originally did either. And sorry about the ear haha And if anyone is interested, I have 3 more photos I took at the same time on my Flickr that I didn't want to put on DA
