Was just wondering how many of you actually do stuff like this for a living?

I am a qualified maintenance engineer for heavy plant and cranes etc and i just do this in my own time but kinda wish i maybe did something related for work?

Am stuck really cus I have my mortagage etc and to get into this stuff you need experience and qualifications I imagine and i cant just jump on a course.

Do you still in enjoy your job is it as good as i imagine it is? Am sick of getting filthy everyday and cutting my knuckles everytime i pick up a tool.

I make most of my money via web design, but I don't do it as a job with set hours or anything, I intend to keep it as a hobby.

Also, regarding coursework... unlike most other professions, art is not taught, its felt. Sure, designing such as contrasting colors, shapes and symmetry and the emotional background to colors, flow, etc. can be taught, but designing isn't art.

I got lessons in webpage coding at school for the first year now and i think it's pretty cool, only bad thing is we don't have dreamweaver at school -.-"

Still in school; but right now I'm facing the harsh reality that I won't be able to be a musician (for a living). So this is purely for my own enjoyment.

I work for Bob Krist (travel photographer). I adjust his pictures and do all of the design for the foundation he and his wife started.

my official post is "digital post-processing assistant".

it's a sweet job because he is an editor at national geographic travel and a spokesman for nikon and epson. I got to upload photos to the nikon ftp site so they could be put in their calendar.

Wow, thats really cool man! But I dont understand how you would get paid by the hour on a job like that. Couldnt you just take a large amount of time working on one project?

I could but that just doesn't seem right to me. I figure that it'll be more profitable to do better work faster than to do good work slower. They'll keep asking me to come back and if I'm lucky, give me raises. I wouldn't have that if I were a bad worker.

Plus they have literally hundreds of thousands of slides, so no matter how fast I work, they'll always have more assignments for me.
