Well, I'm back after being banned. I was banned for flaming, and for being really harsh to beginners and posting unhelpful C&C. After a long time out and a few apologies, I'm back.

I see someone post their very first sig and I am polite and say that other than the text, it's sweet. IS THIS SOMEHOW ILLEGAL? I learn from my mistakes, I'm a nicer person when I come back. Check my reps, I have neg reps for harsh C&C dating a while back.

    Guess what.

"If you're going to make mindless comments, such as calling a fairly terrible tag that needs a LOT of work "Sweet". Doing it helps no one, and when mantis commented it you launch into a personal attack on him/his tag? His was FAAAR better then the one posted, which is to be expected as the posted was by a complete beginner.

People like you are why GR's C&C is total crap. "

And a nice big neg rep. Normally I don't care about rep, and I know it's about to be erased with V4, but seriously.

    Go f*ck yourself, Broken.

    Nicer person until Mantis posts.
Then, and while his post wasn't exactly...necessary.

To be honest your post is worse then flaming someone for their tag.

I saw your "Harsh" C&C in the past though, and I don't think it deserves to have C&C within it. It was -flaming- pure and simple, that's it, nothing else. What you did today wasn't C&C either it was a lie.

But when Mantis disagreed with you, and voiced the likely opinion of anyone who entered the thread (though I don't agree with how he did it), you decided to attack his tag instead which is completely irrelevant, you've not changed.

Have you considered for one second that maybe I wasn't attacking mantis, and I was merely poking fun. Sometimes people don't take internet forums as a damn game of politics. I like the sig, but not the text. I said so. Just because you're better than the OP, and most likely me, doesn't mean you automatically get the deciding opinion on everything posted on this site.

I'm sure mantis wasn't overly offended. If you took something I said to you as offensive, then neg rep me. None of this was addressed at you until you neg repped me and starting giving me crap for no apparent reason.

I wouldn't have neg repped you if you didn't response to Mantis.

And honestly, no matter how much you profess you like the sig I'm not going to believe you, it's clearly got major major issues to be worked through, text, depth, lighting, every single aspect of it is wrong. He's new! WHat do you expect, but actually -constructive- criticism is far more helpful than both ends of the spectrum, IE Flaming or Mindless praise.

My own skill's irrelevant here, just like Mantis's skill was irrelevant.
Anybody who's done graphics for a week could tell the issues and telling him how to handle it helps him more. You can criticise without insulting people.

But, I'll accept the neg rep may have been harsh.

Man all this stuff you're saying must really be making this guy feel welcome. Posts his first tag, and then the moment someone actually professes to actually thinking it's good, whether for a beginner or not, they get flamed how it's so bad that this opinion is unjustifiable, and that it's pure crap. Regardless if you're offering tips, you shouldn't be a total dick to people posting their first tags.

Mindless praise... that's bullsh!t. His first sig was far better than most.

children . . . settle down or I will put you in time out.

The truth is no one likes negative comments about their work. I love it when people say "this is what you need to do, to make it better . . . " Just saying that something looks like crap and needs help in all aspects is not good C&C and is an insult. In my art classes at USU when we do critiques we say what we like and dislike then give suggestions on what the person could do in our opinion to make it better or to fix those degrading qualities. This is no different then what should go on here IMO.

If you can't think of how to improve the piece then simply don't post your comment. If you shun down every beginners work without providing good feedback then all you are doing is flaming and making the person feel bad which will in turn thwart the progression of the artist.

And with this situation if you are going to ban one person for flaming another in the C&C area then you should ban all who flame. Or at least give warnings and delete the offensive comment. This whole situation is due to bad moderation of the site. The administration might want to look for better staff if this problem persists. IMO anyways.

Oh come of it, I didn't do a damn thing to the original topic poster.
If anything I helped him far more then you did by actually offering constructive advice.

    I'm done.

The neg rep was harsh, and I probaly shouldn't have done it.

But jesus grow up and suck it up.

I'm sorry that my comment caused such an uproar, it was certainly not my intention. I should have at least provided some helpful C&C after I laughed at nL's comment about it being "sweet."

    I'll go edit that now.
