Service Pack 3 And Windows Themes

Discussion in 'Gaming' started by Burning Phoenix, Oct 14, 2008.

  1. Recently my computer updated itself to Service Pack 3 on Windows XP. After one restart, the customized theme I had for Windows was changed back to the original XP theme. I decided that it was just a minor error, and I proceeded to "install" the theme again by simply double-clicking as I had done the first time in SP2. This time the theme did not change, and now I am left with the old XP theme.

    My questions are:

    1. Are there themes compatible with Service Pack 3?
    2. Is there a way to take my customized theme and impliment it that I don't know about?
    3. Is there a way to add other theme colors to Windows XP without using the Windows 95 theme bars?

    Answers and/or links are appreciated.

I don't think that this is warez or anything since almost everyone uses this but, if it is then please do delete my post!!

You need to re-patch the UxTheme.dll file in your windows folder. The best way to do it is to download this and run it.

After you run and patch the file you will need to restart your computer and after that your visual style themes should work fine. It happened to me as well and SoftPedia had the right answer to my problem.

For the last question you can download Visual Styles from DA and use them...I think that is what you mean? Right

    Hope I helped

  3. That was quite helpful, and I will try this as soon as I get home. The visual themes I'm not sure about, but I'll look into it later if I have spare time.

Thank you for the help Zain.
