for once i decided to create a non-gaming sig i think it worked out pretty well v1 v2 (i like this one more) v3
It's modern because it's boring and simple to make? It's not modern in colour choices, which make absouletely no sense. It's just, weird.
have you ever looked at modern buildings etc ? modern = boring if it's not boring and plain it's not modern
Just so wrong. Take a look at some of the buildings being created in Dubai for example, they're anything but boring. This idea that modern has to be simple and boring has been hanging around for years and it's crap, if it's modern you should theoretically be expanding with new styles, trying things out, doing something never done before. Sleek, proffessional but still aesthetically pleasing.
now that's just what i mean, modern is a term different for everyone if you've heard about Tate Modern (which i hope you have) -> greatest modern art museum in europe http://www.tate.org.uk/ modern ART is something that is simple what you're saying about Dubai is something i have to agree with i shouldn't have referred to buildings but just because its brand new and looks epically cool, that still doesn't make it modern anyway, we're both right
Yeah, nah I'm still going to disagree. (Not only because it's fun, but because I can). Modern art isn't worth of being called modern...or art for that matter. Not all modern art is simple, yes, a lot of it is. But then again there's a difference between Graphics and Art. Signatures, on the whole, regardless of what people constantly say, are graphics. Graphics are designed primarily to be aesthetically pleasing whereas 'art' per se is more to generate emotions etc. as well as being aesthetically pleasing.
art noun 1. the products of human creativity; works of art collectively; 2. the creation of beautiful or significant things; 3. a superior skill that you can learn by study and practice and observation; 4. photographs or other visual representations in a printed publication; graphics noun 1. photographs or other visual representations in a printed publication; 2. the drawings and photographs in the layout of a book graphic arts pl.n. 1. The fine or applied visual arts and associated techniques involving the application of lines and strokes to a two-dimensional surface. 2. The fine or applied visual arts and associated techniques in which images are produced from blocks, plates, or type, as in engraving and lithography. Also called graphics. looks to me like graphics (signatures) are a product of human creativity, and a creation of beautiful and / or significant things, and it is a superior skill that you can learn by study, practice and observation.. also it is a visual representation so when you state there is a difference between Graphics and Art I would actually have to disagree with you Edit: "partially because although there are some difference graphics is a work of art and can be considered the same at some occasions" (sorry didn't realize I didn't define why I disagreed) =/ Signatures are a work of art, maybe not something you will see in an Art Museum but it is art none the less.. as for the modern art debate this is what I found for modern arts mod·ern adjective 1. of or pertaining to present and recent time; not ancient or remote: modern city life. 2. characteristic of present and recent time; contemporary; not antiquated or obsolete: modern viewpoints. Seeing as his creation is from present and recent time, and it is an art... he could say its Modern Art if he wants to, and it be fact? So broken with all your disagreeing and whatever why not next time just open a dictionary? The piece is fine.. I think its to plain in my opinion and could use more.. but I like it. Stop debating on it being modern or not.. or graphics vs art... he asked for CnC on the signature not the Title he used..
Chipmunk. (And sorry Blackfile, to continue this in your thread, but it's mildly entertaining). We'll deal with your definition of 'Modern Art' first. Modern Art is an entity is not necessarily art created from present and recent times, simply because it contains the word 'Modern' in it's name does not make it so judging by it's dictionary definition. It's simply a term applied to that style/genre. Like the 'Killer Whale/Orca' if you will, now pull out a dictionary and of course a Killer Whale is...well, a whale. However, it's not. Simply defining objects like that doesn't work. Simply because there is similarities in the definition between Graphics and Art, does not make them one and the same entity. Of course this bit will always come down to personal opinion but the vast majority of people would not define signatures are art. Then you said Signatures are beautifal, and while they may be aesthetically pleasing they're very very very rarely 'beautifal', then signatures are apparently 'significant'. Now that's just, no. Signatures aren't significant, it's a small block graphic that people use as a stepping stone on to creating something worthy of time, effort, and requires genuine skill (Enough to progress in either Graphics Industry, or as an Artist).
Broken (And I am sorry also Blackfile lol) About the definition of Modern Art.. if you didn't know it may apply generally to a Style/Genre, but Modern is an Adjective and can be used to describe a certain kind of art not referring to the Genre at all. In case you didn't know. And I never said Graphics and Art are the same and if I did I am sorry what I meant was Graphics is a form of Art therefore can be considered Art. They do have differences yes but Graphics is a form of art therefore saying Modern Art can be applied to any graphic made if the artists wants it to be. That being said.. lets move on to the significance you spoke of.. If a Graphic Art had no significance then why would many of the artists here put them here in their Signatures? sig·nif·i·cance –noun 1. importance; 2. meaning; 3. the quality of being significant or having a meaning The Graphic Art is of some significance, a.k.a. importance or meaning, to the artist therefore the artist puts it in their signature, although it may not have significance to you it may to them. Just like Pablo Picasso's work has no significance to me but his work is considered art. you also spelled beautiful wrong dunno if you knew that lol. Also if Graphics were not art why would there be a business profession named Graphics Artist, where you can make money for designing and creating works of originality and meaning to the buyer..? With all that being said.. Based on the definitions in the Dictionary you are entirely wrong broken. But I also know that most of this is solely based on your own opinion vs mine.. Neither can really be wrong, but I just enjoy debating from time to time..
