More or less, here's the deal: I'm taking photography in school and I'm already thoroughly enjoying every aspect of it. Even though we haven't done much with actual cameras, I've been putting more than a little thought in pursuing a career that involves photography. I'm aware it's more than a little early for me to completely decide what I want to do with my life, being only 16 years old, but it does interest me greatly. At the moment, though, it will just be a hobby. So, my question is, what would be a decent 35mm film camera for a novice? My class is focused on film and not digital, so it must be a film camera. Everything from film to the chemicals will be supplied for my class, as well. Yes, I understand that many of you will stand by your digital SLR's and speak bad of film cameras, as it's a "dying" art. That is your opinion, but I have more use for a film camera now than a digital one.
If it is a black and white photo class I would go with any old 35 mm camera with a light meter, 35-80 mm lens and it has to be an ISO camera. Pick one up at the thrift store or find someone with an old one that they would give you for a cheap price. Now if it is color and you are short on money I would go with a Canon EOS Rebel G with a 35-80 mm Lens. That is what I used and it only cost me $150 Now if money is no matter I would get a Nikon FM10 35mm Film Camera. It ranges from about $250 - $300 US dollars.
I really like the Canon I have. They have good products, and I would recommend a Canon most definitely.
Thank you for the input. Money may or may not be an issue, but I've had a few recommend Canon, so I'll see what I can find.
+1 good recommendations. And Canon is a very high quality brand. And 35mm are great film camera's, man. Each style has a different outcome. It's all about taste. i love them both...Currently saving up for a Rebel Xti SLR (digital, haha)...But after that I think I may buy a 35mm.
