    Need to buy a new PC, primarily for gaming/graphics (like normal around here.)
    I'm essentially an idiot when it comes to this sort of thing, specs and the like (aside from the obvious).

    SO.
    Any help would be appreciated, in the UK so preferably a UK supplier who delivers, (Again, don't know any :P) and my budget is roughly...

    £650, equating to around 1300$. However I'd like to stay under that if possible, just something up to date!

    CREDZ FOR DA WINNA.

    Nothing specific spec wise, 200 Gig hard-drive minimum is about it.

    just a quick note, that on PC parts, £650 GBP would prob equate to around $800-900 USD. Parts are so much cheaper state-side, unfortunately us in the UK have to pay extra for nothing. Check out www.ebuyer.com www.overclockers.co.uk www.dabs.com and have a look around. You can pick out the simple things like hdd and case. You should be babel to pick up a 500gb hdd for ~£45 right now, and the case is totally up to you.

    is the cost only for the main unit or do you need peripherals and software?

    I don't need Software at least, just the main unit really.

    Though I don't think this matters much anymore, found this in my budget range ;

    * Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
    * Intel Core 4 Quad Q9400 Processor
    * 4096MB Corsair DDR II Memory
    * 750GB SATA II Seagate Ultra Fast Hard Disk Space
    * NEC 7200 Multi Format DVD/CD ReWriter
    * TWO nVidia GeForce 9500 GT 1024MB PCI Express Graphics Cards (2048MB SLI)
    * 5.1 High Definition Surround Sound
    * Intel Deluxe Motherboard
    * Multi Format Memory Card Reader
    * DVD/CD ROM Drive
    * 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN
    * 12 x USB2 Ports
    * Firewire
    * Hanns G 22” Widescreen TFT 5MS HDMI Flat Panel
    * Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard
    * Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse
    * Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 Speaker System
    * 12 Months Classic Warranty

    Though I'll be upgrading the Graphics Cards to 9800 and also upgrading the processor to a 550. Think this is the plan.

    don't bother with a 9800. 4850>9800GTX+
    an 8600GTS is probably cheaper than a 9500 and is performance comparable.
    don't bother with SLI get the best single card you can. an AMD hd4850 costs about the same as two 9500s but blows them out of the water.

    don't bother spending $$$ on a CPU you're just going to toss anyway, if you need a CPU temporarily go for the likes of a e5200 it should be more than good enough if you're just planning on upgrading anyway.

    edit: sounds like you're getting ti from a site...

    Intiially aye. But, talking to a friend of a friend at the moment about getting one put together from parts. Won't be buying from a major company either way. Cheers for advice.

    Edit : Not intending to throw this one away, it's got to last me a few years.

    I'd say, off the top of my head

    Q6600/E7200
    Mid-range P45/P35
    2-4gig of DDR2 RAM
    9600GT/HD4850
