This week the worlds biggest collider will be completed and ready for experiments on SEP 10. Even though there wont be any collision on that date there will be a test on accelerating a proton to the speed of light. So basically nuclear physics will enter a new world. IMO this machine WILL put a milestone in the history of mankind. There will come discoveries using this machine that will affect the life of every human beings. This is not a movie or a Sci-Fi story. There will be discoveries of how world has been created.
There will be also a test of creating a micro black hole(Or the creation of micro black holes was the side effect of a test) This has the potential of basically destroying the planet even though the chance is very very small. In theory this shouldn't happen but there is no evidence for these theories. (Im too ignorant to know all the facts about the theories and the experiments so plz correct me if you know more)
Im not a physics guy myself but Im really excited about this. As for the risk. I belong to those group of people that I belive knowing some stuff worth dying for.

    Testing starts October 21st.

also i would like to note, one scientist quoted

"Dr. Arkani-Hamed said concerning worries about the death of the Earth or universe, “Neither has any merit.” He pointed out that because of the dice-throwing nature of quantum physics, there was some probability of almost anything happening. There is some minuscule probability, he said, “the Large Hadron Collider might make dragons that might eat us up.”

    I love speculative science.

I can accelerate photons to the speed of light.

and I can do this with amazingly primitive low cost tech.

so i think I'm one up on them when it comes to particle acceleration.

I love atomic physics. The basic tenet is that the entire universe functions on odds. You could walk through the nearest wall, but odds are slim that your attempt will work.

.... i didnt create this topic as if the world was going to end, but instead that we will enter a new phrase of quantom physics which can possibly tell us how the earth began, or even the big bang.

Didn't mean for that to sound insulting if it did just that I'm tired of these people telling me the world is going to be sucked into a black hole

lol at the people who think a black hole will appear. haha

a black hole has the mass of over 10 times the sun. And you think 2 little protons will make that mass? XD

Not every black hole is the same size/mass. Mass isn't a constant.

    Wouldn't you like to know
this is like the forth topic on black holes... LOL

People there is a better chance of you getting shot robbed stabbed getting in a car accident then killer black holes ever being made.

And even if there was a black hole created it would take 100s if not millions on years to do anything.

Also by the time we knew something was going on it would be to late LOL
