How is it... complicated? To my knowledge you do need a router.
Pick up a Linksys basic networking router and and ethernet cable.

Only if you already don't have a router which may support LAN wires and connectivity directly to the internet. Its a little complicated, I admit but its a relief once you go through the sign-up process. Just go through the field once you have connected the Xbox to the Internet and then it will all be easy for you to set up, trust me!

and btw, Welcome the Xbox family mate! Enjoy the living hell out of yourself :D

Hope to meet you on it in GTA IV ;->

I don't have a router for my X-Box, but I've just have a direct connection. Only means that I don't have my Wii connected at the same time.
