I just don't want to have to decide between a new laptop and a new camera ;(
maybe with the hurricane coming more people will move away like last time and places will be desperate so I can get a job. They were paying $15 an hour at mcdonalds after Rita.

    Not at all.

Cannon is a very good brand. And for a 8 MP compact, $200 is a pretty good price.

If you are looking for great pictures, a compact may not be the best option. SLR's are much better for that type of thing. Anything with a zoom lense, at least 7 or 8 MP and some decent features (do your HW. Different features are better for different people). I had a Cannon Powershot when I visited mexico. It wasnt an SLR, but it did have a zoom lense attatched. It was a great camera and took some awesome pictures.

If you are budgeting and cannot afford an SLR and are looking to save to get a lap top as well...That camera will probably be great. Just need to learn how to use it (There's more to it than just aiming and shooting).

Oh, and I recommend talking to photographers you may know, or store employees. Also try some cameras out to see if you like them. Because they are investments.

    Hope this helped.
