Honestly, who of you have read this topic ==> http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50476?

Lately, when I check some sig threads, I find comments such as "I like it" or "wow, that's hot", "amazing" or even better "sucks, f* off".
All nice, but it doesn't help the author of the piece one bit. I'm sure he/ she is flattered that you like the art or bummed out for that matter if you give /hatecomment, but it doesn't help to improve the sig.

Even if you think it's awesome, say what you like/dislike about it. Is it the colours, the composition, the blending of stocks/renders, the text, ... This helps to determine to the author what he/she has done for the better in the tag. That way it can be repeated or perfected in the future. But posting the useless comments withing criticism (hint C&C) isn't the way to go.

So I'll probably start deleting these kind of comments from now on. I'm not going to hand out warnings (not yet anyhow) but comments as mentioned above better don't happen too much anymore since they are the equivalent to spamming for post/credit count.
    You got that bitches? :P

You forget that the average GR member has an IQ of less than 20 and struggles to know why their opinion is what it is.

I'm sure that many ppl would like too participate more on the forum like me.
But in my case i'm far away to be a good sig maker, still learning.
So who am I too cnc others?
But I stand behind the idea of the quality of post made rather the quantity (I've been an admin on a forum with 26.000 members, I know the pain).
Atm i can't do more then say thanks for tuts/renders/stocks and say how great I find some sigs made here.

So there I am stuck like many others I guess
Ofc you can say that we can cnc, but when when learning you just don't do that.

I hardly post CnC on sigs anymore, because many people here already can't take constructive criticism so they get all immature about it thinking I'm "bashing" their work or something.

You don't need to be good at graphics to criticize someone elses work if they are posting it to be aesthetically pleasing (which most are).

You don't need to be able to do art in order to state you don't like something because it looks a specific way. I intentionally ask my friends who don't do any art to criticize my work quite often because they are the ones who provide the best aesthetics point of view, they have no recognition of how much work something took to make, and their only concern is whether it looks good or not, and thats an especially important trait when it comes to web design (my main forte).

Most signatures are the same way, too many people rate based off the work put in, and not the aesthetic value of the piece, which is a load of crock imo.

Goddamn, you beat me to it.

I just rarely post in that section anymore because I'm tired of it. The signatures are starting to all look cookie-cutter and it's just gotten monotonous.

    tired...

I completly agree, the quality of the CnCs given in the Signatures Showoff section have to improve. I know a few talented artists (who are also known as really influent artists on many other forums) that don't display their art pieces over there anymore due to the CnCs they get from the communauty here... Maybe we could do something about it ... I am wondering if it is possible to increase the minimal amount of characters required to post a reply, but only in that specefic section of the forum ?

In my opinion, I think that something around 40 chars should be enough to say you either like or dislike a specific element of the art displayed without taking too long so it's not annoying neither. Maybe I am wrong but we're allowed to post a reply with a really few ascii in it...
