I have seen many topics and posts of people asking which games are the best to buy. These are often met with people spamming their game lists, or their favorite game, without any reason as to why. What I propose is that we (anyone who is interested) all pick ONE and only ONE game, write a brief review on why it is your favourite game, and then I will list the game names in order (most votes first). List categories will be overall, role playing game, adventure, shooter, vehicle simulation, sports, and other (though this is subject to change). There is no need to score or rate your game, as being your favorite game, it most likely deserves a ten in your books. If you play Xbox Live Arcade games, include your favorite one, with a brief review again. Also, feel free to include your gamertag, next to your favorite game, and I will list it underneath. I have now added Wii and Playstation 3 sections. If you have played games from each console, please include a single one from each. Virtual console, wiiware, xbox live arcade and playstation network games are in a section of their own, so feel free to add your favourite game for those as well.

Please only submit ONE game name, and ONE arcade game name as that is all I will add. If more are submitted I will pick the first ones listed.

    My choices:

    Mass Effect.

One of the major factors in this game being my number one is the story. It seems to take things from so many different science fictions 'greats', melds them together, makes them it's own, and then adds on a massive amount of new and refreshing architecture. To say this game is in-depth would be a huge understatement. Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventures, yes adventures with an s. You get to choose so many different paths in this story and your decisions effect so many direct and indirect cases, that you will want to play the game again and again just so you can learn everything and do everything. Along with the story comes a nice and effective combat system, though many hardcore shooter fans may find it strange, RPG/softcore shooter fans should find it right at home. The controls are fluid and fitting and don't waste any time. My only real complaint with this game, ( and let me tell you, it is a MINIMAL complaint) is that many of the side quests are repetitive and some structures are used multiple times, though it is probably due to the fact that the game is already pushing it's memory space. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves a great story, and likes shooters or role-playing games. You may just find yourself watching the cutscenes with more excitement than a favorite movie.

    Geometry Wars Retro Evolved.

I am not particularly good at this game. But it is extremely addictive and fun. This asteroids-meets-space invaders game is a remake of an old "classic" I had never played nor heard of till it came onto xbox live. It is a bright, colorful, interesting, eye-popping (literally!), extremely addictive (as already mentioned) little arcade game. There is not alot more to say about it except, try it. Download the trial game. And wear sunglasses, or something.

It has nothing to do with me. I have every game I want or need. It's a way for the general public to decide which games deserve the spot. Instead of looking at lists of people they don't know, or going and watching one review on one game, they can come here, see what people have said about each game, and decide for themselves if they need further influence in buying. If people give short answers, so be it. It will fill eventually.

    Eww, Halo 3.

    Best Shooter: Gears of War

    Reason:
Gears of War had a great story but it leaves out some key points(you can easily figure out the story if you search online). Which was done on purpose to set up for Gears 2. Amazing game play and next gen graphics. Gears 2 will probably be Game of the Year.

    Arcade:
Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 - better than the old one with 6 game modes, easily addictive and bright haha!

    vehicle:
Grid - such another addictive game after playing the demo loads I had to get the real game and it's so good the ability to race in 3 different locations the only thing is is lacking is the ability to customise your car a bit other than the paint scheme but it may have ruined the game so maybe best kept out.

shooter - CoD 4 or Battlefield: Bad Company - both good FPS games just depends on what you like :)

Not particularly interested in spending the time going into detail, however, away and beyond the best game for xbox 360 in terms of gameplay, graphics, replaying and everything is

    Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion

For the Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, epic, just epic.

Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2.

This game surpasses what it means to be a game. It has everything necessary, and can be played by anyone, regardless of morals, beliefs, or age. It has an art style that is pleasing to the eye, and a story that is simple, and yet speaks volumes. Buy this game.

MGS4 isn't a shooter. Well, not a shooter like CoD4. It's Tactical Espionage Action. It's not a FPS, and the point of the game is to only take people out when necessary. So it should really put under 'other' ;)

Even thugh people are going to hate on it, Halo 3 is up there in the top fps for xbox360. Even though there is so much crap that happens in that game..it still has the haters coming back to it.

Also call of duty 4 has my vote as a competitor for top FPS on xbox.
