I have seen many different things that new gfxers do.
i mean even i did it before, its just weird why we do it.

like border i have seen people stroke the canvas 2px and set it on overlay.
i have seen it like a trillion times in my life done by new comers to gfx. why tho ?

Then text, seen loads of text which is just applied image and clipping mask. Its
okay if u do it well and like place it well i suppose. I have seen so many new comers
put it around bottom left or right with clipping mask and they make it so far away
from the focal and place it somewhere empty making it look bad. i suppose what they
want to do is make the font clear?

    transparent background? xP
i use to do that alot but dont see it much anymore.

sooo can anyone explain why lol.
its just weird and im curious why people do it.

It's simple really: they do the most obvious thing. Newbies aren't yet skilled enough to go outside of the box (erhm... don't look at my stuff, I'm speaking from a purely artistic perspective here, I don't care about sigs). With painting in photoshop, I do the most obvious things. I'm not good enough to do more complicated things. When I started photography, I did what I knew how to do: square the image off. I never played with natural borders or weird perspectives until later.

Newbies shove all the cool effects they can figure out into one thing. If that's the text, then so be it. Once they learn the different options they have, they start to do them. That's why they do the transparent background, they try it out. And... it's like when I was flipping my mom off at the age of 6 or so. I thought it was special, since no one ever did it :P. Turns out it just meant something bad and I wasn't special after all *sniffle*

I need to shut up. Caffeine makes me make less sense and unable to convey what I really mean. Darn you Barq's!

Acually ,rather than not skilled enough, I'd say newbies would rather follow these trends in order for them to "fit in". To be creative is taking the risk that your work won't be liked. And most people don't take that risk because the only reason they make art is so they can be praised for their art.

Ah, well there's another problem. You shouldn't do art to be praised, you should do art to praise something or someone else (like what you're doing the piece of :P).

It might be a little of both, in my opinion. They want the praise and to fit in, but they also need the simpler techniques. Eventually, after experimenting with all of them, they'll probably move on to develop their own style.

Oh well, I have to go
