I am going to refer you to Huy-N's rendering tutorial (It is located on the Rendering board, it is stickied) You know how to render, that's for sure. The techniques used weren't that great. It looks like to me you used a magnetic lasso. That is good for big renders that will be shrunk down really small. Poly lasso has more control. Hand lasso is jagged and not too great. Try feathering too. That picture should be feathered to about 1-2 pixels.

    Hope this helps.

the whole thing is pretty jagged and is in need of feathering. the hair needs to be done better still a lot of bg in them. also crop your images when your done for those people with ancient computers.

i think it was just a bad choice of stock. screenshots are almost never great choices for rendering try high quality wallpapers sites like wallpaperbase.com or gamewallpapers.com. keep trying tho

choppy render. Can try duplicating the render and add a gaussian blur? or just feathering

Thanks for sharing this with us, and here's a few suggestions for you:

    - Use either the pen (paths) tool or the polygonal lasso to make your selections. Zoom in to 500% or so and make small cuts.
    - Crop the image closer. Use the crop tool and get rid of all that extra transparency, it just makes the filesize larger.
    - Choose clear, high quality images to start with. This not only looks better in the end, but makes the cut easier for you if the edges are clrearly defined.

    ---

Hope to see more of your work soon, keep going with this! :)
