This is a remake of a book by Stephenie Meyer (#1 New York Times best seller). Twilight is the first in the book series, the others are called new moon, eclipes, breaking dawn and midnight sun (which is still in progress of being written). Only reason I stumbled upon this film is because I've been reading her books. Read the first two and started in #3 last night. Both books have actually been more than I expected from then . They aren't as action-packed as other vampire-books but it turns out that didn't bother me at all. The story really is breathtaking. To keep it short: It's about the relationship between a vampire (Edward) and a human (Bella). It tells a different vampire story than we're used to. They aren't vulnarable to light (but it does have it special effect), they don't have fangs, and some other things. Anyhow, I've placed a link at the bottom where you can view the trailer of the film, which, of course, seems to be having a lot more action than the book. I can only say the trailer is true to the book, but that the book tends to spin a far greater story around it (yesyes, I'm more fond of books then their film-remakes ) http://www.twilightthemovie.com/ Cast
Twilight stole my girlfriend... I'm now called "Jacob" by every one of her friends. Anyway, I've never read the books, however I know that they must be good if so many people read and enjoy them. A definite suggestion for girls, a maybe for guys who don't mind a book without action.
The movie will suck. The book was good. My girlfriend says that I remind her of Edward/Edward reminds her of me. And I'll take that compliment!
I'm usually not interested in love stories, but these books have gotten intense reviews from everyone I know. I might check them out sometime.
I read the 4 books per request of my girlfriend and I couldn't really enjoy them. She equates herself to Bella all the time and me to Edward, which is awesome, but I just can't deal with young adult literature. I prefer deeper novels that don't state the same thing 5 times in the same page. Not bad if your into young adult love stories though (and yes, it is a love story give or take some twists). I am looking forward to the movie just to see how they portray the characters, in particular the end of Twilight with James and the other visiting Vampires, and curious as to who they have casted to play as Edward's big brother (not in terms of age, but size, forgot his name).
That would be Emmet. And that would probably be some bigass muscled dude. You have a point about the repetition in the novels but it is indeed written for younger people in the core. I prefer deeper novels as well, but these turn(ed) out to be a nice change inbetween. Just read about the last one she's written in the series and it turns out this is the same as the first, but from Edward's point of view. Feels a bit like milking the money-cow for me but we'll see how it goes As for the movies, they'll probably be pacted with action since the actual love story won't sell as good. I'm also curious if they'll do sequals. Would be nice to see what they do with Jacob in the second ^^
Yeah, the 4th book was a great place to end it, taking it to a 5th is just pushing it a bit too far imo. Breaking Dawn covered it all up and pretty much cleaned up all the bases and questions, and was basically the whole, 'and they lived happily ever after' kind of book, I wasn't even aware she was intending to write a 5th book, but now that I am, it entirely seems like shes just doing it for the money now, and I hate those kinds of authors.
Same here. Just finished the thrid book, was quite nice Haven't been able to get my hands on the fourth one yet, can't find them in the stores so I'll have to order it probably. But started in "the crimson petal and the white" now. Quite the obese book P) but from what I've heard, it should be worth it.
It's become a fad within my school. The books, the tee shirts, the movie, everything. At first my (ex) girlfriend was obsessed and I put up with it.. But now everybody reads them. The fact that they are sold in the kids/teen section keeps me away from them, too. I've heard reviews saying they are poorly written which may explain the reason they are sold in the kids/teen section. If people love these books, so be it. I am very glad you enjoy the books. As for me, I'll stick to my graphic novels.
Its written with a teen audience in mind. All the events revolve around teenagers in the beginning, with teenager beliefs (such as a flawed vision of what a relationsihp should be, or marriage, etc.). It is written clearly and it is written without any real twists and turns and it makes sure certain things are said multiple times so you get the point. As I said, written for teenagers. I am mostly into books more along the lines of Dean Koontz, Stephen King, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, etc.
