Personally I find this to be complete BS, despite how racist I may appear on the forums actions like this just... eugh.

I agree. It is majorly racist and is unfair to Ehadadi. I think if a team wishes to recruit him, no matter what country he lives in, they should be allowed.

I think the issue here lies not with race, but with nationality. We haven't exactly been on friendly terms with the Iranians since 1979; I don't think we have diplomatic relations with them, and there lies the problem. He'd have to become an American citizen to get around it or, as the article mentions, he could get an exception from the State Department. It'd be the same situation if Ehadadi were Cuban.

he's not actually banned, the NBA is resctricting/forbidding the teams to sign him.

Which is essentially being banned from the league.

Regarding citizenship, I don't really care regarding our relations with the nation, its a blanket punishment for things done by a group of people. I know there are members whom are not American citizens in the NBA, they should be equally as restricted imo.

Why should it matter what country your from? He should have the same opportunity to play in the NBA as all of those other people.

Yea, but nothing any of the teams can do, and from what I understand (granted I am tired) it's IRAN's rule, no?

No, it is the US policy that we can't affiliate with Iranian nationals.

“We have been advised that a federal statue prohibits a person or organization in the United States from engaging in business dealings with Iranian nationals.”

Oh, I misread that. Lol, my bad. Well, I would imagine whoever said that is taking a rule that is meant to be for like, nuclear arms and ----, and taking it to the extreme because tall dude isn't interested in their team. ;)

Bad call. Hes a great player and this is a very ignorant move for the NBA.
