Well I usually sit at a nice 50 latency on source then I got 1.6 Wednesday and was playing with about the same ping and then me and my buddy were both playing online (he was over here) and had like 200 ping well today when he was not here I was getting up to 800 in the ping. Help?
Goto your steam in the taskbar and goto settings, then hit the download tab. Once in there, just set the speed to Cable/Fiber > 10M, i did, even though i dont have that, and i have a low/decent ping anywhere i go really, lol.
If the problem consists then try going to your Task Manager and going to processes, make sure to have Counter-Strike running at that time. Find the process called hl.exe and right click it. Look for the selection menu "Set Priority" and highlight it. Click on low then try going into game like that. What it will do is make the priority of the game lower so it won't take up to much of you CPU usage and maybe free up some of the lag.
If you consistently get high ping like that and you tried everything to fix it, then your probably playing in servers far away from you and are no where close to you. Trying finding a server in your area that is low ping.
u can u cfos if u got high ping, it can reduce ping at the cost of some internet speed if needed, rly works. u can choose either favor ping to reduce ping, or reduce bandwidth and get higher internet/dling speeds without having to say wut ur connection type is, it auto optimizes after running. its rly useful, i recommend it. no lag for cs 1.6 for me
