Heres just a quick topic asking the following questions, which to you own/use and which to you prefer?

Also what do you guy think of CS4 only being compatible with 64 bit operating systems given that were all a photoshop loving community, aka apple and not basic PC home packages. I guess adobe are pissed of with kids downloading there software illegally so after CS3 no one except mac users and people who fork out for business versions of Windows will have photoshop updates

Windows for me, just more of my style.

thats real stupid what adobe are doing, sure they are losing a lot of money by people downloading their stuff free but they'll lose even more money by only releasing cs4 to macs

Windows, don't get me wrong mac is cool, but I think it is too simple. Linux is too complex, windows is just right.

    Adobe is being stupid.

LOL. You have no idea how much money Adobe really has.

Not only that, but they wouldn't release CS4 only to Apple Computers. And even if they did, Macs are way better for graphic design than Windows are, so it would make sense wouldn't it?

Well actually guys and girls Adobe CS4 and + will still run on windows computers, it just means you have to pay alot more money for a 64 bit version of windows ----- and i mean alot more money, people think Macs are too expensive but by the time youve upgraded your windows itl be cheaper just to buy a mac which as someone already pointed out tend to be superior when it comes too graphics design and video editing e.t.c

Trust me, Adobe wont lose any money and its not because (As someone else pointed out) their too rich, companies wouldn't turn down any amount of money, you dont get rich by throwing money away. At the end of the day how many 32 bit users ie Home users actually pay for the software? not alot.

I think it would be a great idea for adobe to release some sort of consumer version thats cheaper and runs on 32 bit OS`s. But i think people have become too used to the whole cake over the years, a limited version wouldnt fill the spot.

    ---------------------

Ultimately i dont think it will change much for us unprofessional who design for fun because well either have gotten jobs in the industry in which are companies will pay for the software or well just enter a new world of unprofessional graphics design uses a different type of software, there just isnt anything that beats photoshop though. Not for these circumstances.

Windows simply because it's a software company (In terms of operating systems) as opposed to Apple who I consider a hardware company. Apple sell you their overpriced hardware for as much as they want to because they've locked down their software. It's simply the only bargaining chip they have. Although Windows may be built on an old infrastructure, they have expanded their software and because of 3rd party programs and drivers they're able to take much of the market. Apple locks everything down in a little white room and guarantees that everything inside the white room will work just like in a commercial. They don't let you out of the white room to try to build onto their technology because their hardware market would fall apart, and they don't let you mess with the software because then people would just grab the OS and forget about buying the computer simply because it's cheaper that way. Have you even tried to open up an Apple product? It's built to keep you out. To keep you in that little white room.

64bit version of photoshop is at the moment a windows exclusive, and PS4 won't be an OSX exclusive.

as it stands apple is really good at designing things....

    for their target audience...

which would be tech illiterate 12 year olds who get everything they want from mommy and daddy.

mac OSX = BSD for idiots

if you purchase the OEM version of vista, you can request the 64bit version of the OS from M$ for $5.
$5 is not A LOT MORE MORE.
compare to Apple, where a comparably specced system you built yourself might cost $800 including screen and peripherals, and the iMac version is pushing $1500

"64bit version of photoshop is at the moment a windows exclusive, and PS4 won't be an OSX exclusive."

No it isnt, i have a 64 bit version of photoshop running on my MacBook --- rite now. and if youd actually read the comments above youd have realized that were already cleared up the fcat that CS4 will not be OSX exclusive.

"which would be tech illiterate 12 year olds who get everything they want from mommy and daddy.

Parent who buy there kids macintosh computers make me want to throw up, but if you think that 12 year old kids are apples target audience you are sadly mistaken and obviously an idiot. ----- graphics editing is done on a macintosh in a working environment, If you were to walk into any and i mean any hollywood production now and or for the past 30 years what type of computers Cut/EDit and produce movies, yup... macintosh computers thes days using Final Cut ---, software that is exclusive to the mac. But of course you think ther are more 12 year olds with rich parent out there than graphics design firm and movie companies from independent to the ones that rake in $500,000,000 a movie.
    -----

Sorry if im coming of harsh but i find someone whos on a graphics design website dissing Apple and OSX a little hard to swallow. To you intend to do anything like this as a potential career for you?

    ---------

Oh and an OEM versions of Windows Vista Ultimate (64 bit) will cost you Vista Ultimate $199 (full version retail: $399). thats still alot of money for someone to spend, remember were talking about a community that refuse to pay for there software on here and who use torrents and download sites.

MAC is way more stable. I use a PC because of the options it gives me, but if I were to ever buy a laptop I would buy a MAC over any other.

64 Bit systems is not MAC only, as stated above Windows has a 64 bit version of Vista, as well as XP. 64 bit systems are what is going to take computers to the next level and it's only a matter of time before software becomes compatible and begins to utilize the advantages of a 64 bit system. CS4 is over a year away, and I wouldn't be surprised if 64 bit systems become more prominent by then.

so basically adobe are cutting off over 75% of their windows market by eliminating 32 bit users... something tells me they haven't thought this through 100%...unless they plan on releasing a 32bit version along the line

how many people that have 64 bit operating systems pay for there software? If you're gonna base you're market strategy around the fear that people illegally download software, then you basically lose all incentive to make products. Whats stopping the people to who have 32 bit systems from getting 64 bit systems illegally? You can't think that way. Adobe has to think of their target market in terms of graphic designer, not pirates, so they'll eventually have to give them a 32 bit version, I think.

You sir fail, Firstly Windows can do anything OSXcan do and more =_= maybe we don't have the "OSX" only software but ha we have better software. Heres where you really fail though "If you were to walk into any and i mean any hollywood production now and or for the past 30 years what type of computers Cut/EDit and produce movies". I don't even believe I need to mention why you fail now. Not only is your information historically inaccurate, your just pulling facts out of the air, but your wrong. Alot of places still use windows for cutting and editing? Why you might ask, because windows is stronger, you can upgrade it to the newest and best hardware, you cannot upgrade a mac without apple releasing it as "Apple Hardware" (Which is way way overpriced).

"Sorry if im coming of harsh but i find someone whos on a graphics design website dissing Apple and OSX a little hard to swallow. To you intend to do anything like this as a potential career for you?"
Your also oblivious to the fact that people who do graphic designs (and some of the best artist) use WINDOWS.

Movie based editing is done on a macintosh, thats all there is too it, Warner, Paramount, Fox. Its all final Cut Final Cut Final Cut ---. Instead of saying im wrong and stating that editing is done on windows give me some examples og companies that use windows to edit/produce.

The ----- world uses macintosh these days, walk into any school, college or university today in a course like interactive media e.t.c and what are they doing... slowly but surely there turfing the windows computers out for macintosh.

"Windows is stronger" What the hell does that mean? More secure = HElLL NO More powerful = HELL NO....... stronger????

30 years is an exaggeration but since macs were released theyve been used for motion picture production. If your a UK user with Sky Movie check out the "PIXAR STORY" on premier if you get time youl learn a thing or to.

Before your time there was a man named george Lucas and he had a script entitled Star Wars lol

Why is it the common idea that macs are better for design? I use a Windows for designing and I have never thought "damn, this is awkward", and I worked at a webdesign company for a while where I had to use a mac and to be honest noticed no difference in it.

Also, my immediate thoughts after reading the opening post are as r3m1x says, what's to stop me illegally aquiring a 64 bit OS? According to this this whole thing isn't true anyway, so meh.
