MMO servers run with thousands of people online in the same areas at a time, I don't see why a PS3 couldn't handle 256 people across a map with a dedicated server.
I'm pretty sure it would take alot more then a dedicated server. CoD4 servers crashed, and there supporting thousands of players. It's 256 players per game, and there are probably going to be hundreds if not thousands of games. And especially with everyting that you will probably be aloud to do, there gonna need alot more then a dedicated server
dnt u think they've actually planned this all out...they wouldn't fund this game if they have no plan or know it won't work...
There is going to be a serious lag in this. Some people can barely play a 6vs6 cod match, without their internet cutting out. This just screams lag.
Have you ever played CoD 4, or any online game? Obviously Sony knew CoD 4 was going to be big, but it still crashed. they prepair, but never enough. Now with 256 players, playing at a time... They might be prepaired, or they might think they are prepaired.
Cod 4 works fine with a fair few people on it for me as does battlefield:BC, so im sure they have planned this out and thought about it enought to decided they want to do it. Plus zipper is a good company for getting things going
I'm sure they could sustain. I'm just saying it happens to a lot of online games. But I've only played Socom once, so I can't say anything about Zipper. And CoD 4 for the PS3 and XBox both crashed near launch.
I'm sure thats true, but like I said before. Look at CoD4 only 16 players online, can't be hard? And the servers crashed a couple times.
