not sure whats going on there it should be enough (3800/2=1900)

How much are they? Depends on the speed you want, upto £140

Where can I find them?Computer store? Yeah, ebay is always a good place too

Is it easy to install myself? Lift the heat sink, take the old one out, drop the new one in thin layer of therm paste new heatsink on, done.

Any ones you recommend? So you don't have to get a new motherboard the best you can get is the AMD x2 6400+ not sure if they do a standard version but the most popular at that speed is the black edition which doesn't come with a heatsink so you'll need to keep the existing or get a aftermarket one.

ok aint posted for a while on GR but thought i help fellow PC members who need help ...

dam that is a weird core .. the AMD64 3800 at standard clock is 2.4ghz lool - Ive got a AMD 3500 to 2.2ghz at the moment haha .. you need to see what specs you have got because that 1.8ghz does not look right at all

    to buy a new core:

    1. check what motherboard you have got .. use this so you know what it can support (skt754/939/AM2 etc) - Newer AMD boards support AM2
    2. Once you have found that everything else is easy .. go to a parts dealer site like newegg.com if you live in US and search for a core that fits your budget

The 'GHz' means nothing but instead look at the cache size or you could just ask around - Installing depends on what heatsink/CPU cooler you got - Its fairly easy but when placing the chip on the motherboard make sure you dont FORCE IT !!! gently place it on .. put paste on .. put heatsink on or fan based cooler .. put power cables in and there you go - Job Done

    hope it helps

the single core 3800s are supposed to be 2.4GHz the dual core 3800 are 2.0Ghz so I'm not sure where it's getting that from.

and either way the CPU isn't THAT bad. what is bad is your graphics sollution. IT FAILS.

    here check this
    http://srtest.com

it's a lot more accurate than the apps that you're using.
