Sony announced that there will be a 256 Player online shooter game. They call it MAG: Massive Action Game.

I think it deserves it's own thread.

Will be awesome, and I'm interested to see how 256 players work...the only other game that has been near that (and by near I mean not very close) would be planet side.

Anyways the teaser looks really cool and the concept is great, I just hope they can pull it off.

 

I have a feeling that once the servers go up for the game, there going to crash. Sony doesn't usually prepare well with these things.

 

Well I have a feeling that they are prepared for this. 256 people in one game, you think they would prepare for everything.

 

I don't know man, Zipper has never had a huge problem with servers. They always manage to keep 'em up at launch, and I don't see them failing anytime soon.

Definitely gives us SOCOM fans something else to look forward to after Confrontation .

 

8 person teams seems a little small for a 256 person "brawl"
and once sony launches this microsoft will be in the works with something like this

No but 8 team sqauds are pretty nice. And yeah, I have a feeling they will have no problem with the servers online.

 

I thought there weren't any servers involved in the actual game (xbox live does this?), as each console networks to another without the need for the main servers. I may be totally wrong, i just heard that abut XBL and never looked into it.

 

It would be pretty awesome if it was 128 vs 128, but it was PS3 vs Xbox 360. I would want the game even more. Then I can acually play with my friends that have XBX and not PS3.

And LeetMu, if you mean that the server is run off someone PS3, or XBX. That is kinda true I think. Sony uses a bunch of PS3's for there servers. But with 256 player online, I don't see it being run from someones console

lol, true. But then you can just shoot them. and if you want to, teabag them. And it's not like it would be direct talking, you could talk to them in game if you where like 3 feet away from them

 

if they pull this off...ill be happy =)
