My friends tell me firefox is the best but then others told me that opera is the godly broswer . I need to when is much better.. If you guys can break it down to make a computer newb(Me) understand why it is better...like when have less ram consumption and all those good stuff.

Firefox 3.x I would have to say is the best. Safari if your on a Mac is pretty good. Firefox is good because it's really fast when surfing the web. Firefox you can customize it to your liking, it's easy to use and it has almost everything a web browser needs (it's missing cup holders ;)). Ram usage for me it uses a ton! I usually have 16 tabs or so open maybe that's why.

Hope that helps my final statement is get Firefox!

Most browsers will use quite a bit of RAM, but it won't literally lag your system. Plus for me, when I minimize Firefox, it goes to using about 10MB of RAM.

I would go with Opera, and here are some test results conducted by this website

I prefer firefox. Opera is also good, but firefox has a lot more customization. Stay away from Safari on windows. Its even worse than IE.

hmm interesting, i did some research and result is that Opera is actually better than FF. Opera have addons that FF will have if you would have installed them, opera has them by default. FF is more user friendly by all the things you can do..

I'm gong to wait for further comments and thanks for all the members who helped here!

Opera, as you said, comes with far more features but I still prefer the overall browsing experience of Firefox, especially now with 3 which I feel has new features (that Opera doesn't have, such as much better memory so it will load tens of tabs on start up from what I was last viewing and quick bookmarking which I use a lot) and is now about the same speed/RAM usage as Opera (certainly on my system).

On FireFox 3 after a download is done it "scans" for viruses. I don't think Opera does that, Opera I like for the speed dial but on FireFox there is a add on for that ;).

Also Opera has the feature of tab recoverment(FireFox also has this) but with Opera, you just have to CTRL + Z and it will give you the last tab you closed, and you can do this until the very first tab that you ever opened in the current session.
Also Opera looks really nice, and with all the different skins that can easily be downloaded.

I'd say Firefox all around, it's alot easier then IE and I just couldn't get "into" Opera.

I have used all of them for a while. I would recommend Firefox overall, even though FF3 is very infuriating at some times if you are trying to browser test a website. Opera and Safari Mac are a close second, and IE is somewhere down in like 8th place :P
