I need some clarification on what happened, since I was not here when it did. Just for entertainment sake. What exactly happened? I know that the staff said Dem took over, but they recovered and took legal action against him (lol) but I don't get why people were banned?? Maybe someone could run me through what happened? :x
Basically what you said, and as a joke people were getting banned (there was a lot of strict rules, and if you broke them you would get banned/suspended and people were banned to make it seem more real?), but i believe the people that got banned were in on it (through IRC or somethng?) And that's about it.
We faked it as if I took over the site, unbanned people, banned / demoted staff, made known idiots staff members and promoted staff members who followed me, etc. I eventually made them all staff again and 'banned' myself (though I could still read and reply to all posts, people would have known this if they paid attention to post count), and they said they were in process of cleaning it up. *Most* of the people who went around spamming it was april fools, etc. and trying to ruin the prank were banned and unbanned, *some* of them decided to keep making multiple accounts and keep spamming it on multiple accounts, thus we kept them banned for 3 months.
i've never been banned because the system used is retarded. Instead chakka got banned for my actions lol and that makes sense when? anyway his ban time is up now he has to right a stupid letter why he should be allowed back when hes did nothing in the first place lol "I deserve to come back because i never did anything wrong and helped the community loads in the past e.g "BIG SHOP OF FREE" " crazy? yes
If I wanted to ban Northern I would have. I like to keep him around to remind me why I stay here, which is pretty much to badger the idiots of the internet.
And yet the system is blatantly retarded, or uses some form of extremely twisted logic. Lets see: * Northern gets banned because he sticks up for the owner of this site * Northern then uses my account (whilst I'm away on holiday) to "ban evade" to continue giving support to the admins/owner he felt had been robbed of what is theirs (at this point obviously completely falling for the whole take over joke) * My account gets banned for "ban evading" (so far logical, follows rules of the site) * It transpires the whole thing was an april fools and Northern gets unbanned. I however (chakka) do not as apparently "ban evasion" is still against forum rules despite the circumstances. * I am then allowed to make a second account, effectively ban evading myself, by the forum admins. This breaches forum rules but is ok because they agree I didn't do anything wrong. * My main account which I have a membership on and *had* thousands of creds (which no doubt are gone now as banned accounts get pruned) remains banned because of someone elses actions. So in short because Northern broke forum rules to try and help those he felt were under threat from a takeover I end up being punished and having around $30 of REAL MONEY just taken away. It would be the same logic as an innocent man being hanged for the crimes of another who is then promoted to manager of a large firm and allowed to walk free...and all because of a joke which the admins promised would not lead to any actual bans/suspensions. Brilliant logic!
1 - Northern is banned for spamming the site with 'lolz its an april fools joke' AND for confronting the dictator of the site, he was not the only one, the difference is he then proceeded to use other accounts to continue it after he was banned. 2 - See above 3 - See above 4 - I really have no clue why Chakka wasn't unbanned and Northern was, not because you should be punished, but because he has access to your account and thus the account shouldn't be active. 5 - You were never penalized, just your account. Northern was the one penalized and your account was tossed into the mix by him, if you don't like it, you should be more careful about who you let use your account in the future, and you should yell at him for using it for stupid purposes. 6 - See above Long story short - you gave out YOUR info to someone who abused YOUR account for their own advantages, your account suffered while the person didn't for w/e reason (which is the only fault of the staff, in that we didn't keep him banned for 3 months, as we should have). I believe I actually brought up keeping Northern banned for 3 months, but the staff was opposed for the most part of it and we just never reached a decision on the Chakka problem because more important issues came up.
Oh yeah, we made a fake staff forum and filled it with staff members insulting members and making it out like we had a list of members we were going after to watch and ban / suspend / warn at every given oppurtunity.
