bungie doesn't own the rights to halo, microsoft does, so that is, at this point, completely irrelevant. take a look at the time between H1, H2 and H3, halo 4 will be about the same time apart. This is M$ we're talking about they LIKE money. bungie is disassociated from microsoft at this point and doesn't own the rights to halo, microsoft owns the rights to halo. as it is though, halo4 might not be called halo4 but I'm willing to bet money that it will exist in some form or another, heck take a look, halo wars is coming out...
Exactly, if they made another halo billions will sell the first day.. so many people love halo... hell They may not make enough copys so that they all can be sold..
I'd say theres an 90% chance that there will be no HALO 4. I just can't picture it happening in the near future.
I would have to disagree with you... they did too much of a terrible job at halo 3. A large part of the games that were bought, were bought from people that are trying to get in the MLG community, if you noticed how bungie is incorporating MLG into everything they make at this point out. Look at the playlist, the maps, etc... Though one thing is that I think it was the lead designer from bungie left to join Microsoft just recently. I dont think there is going to be "Halo 4" though there will probably be a continuation from halo 3 which is named something else with a different design...

Also if im not mistake I think actually halo 2 sold more copies than halo 3, the only reason they made more money was due to the games being a hell of a lot more expensive... $60 to somewhere around $120
If there were to be a Halo 4, it should be based on the black guy, Avery Johnson. Go through his times of war with the covenant, and how he survived the Flood. That'd be pretty bad ass. Still, I'd rather not see another Halo 4.
