    We were loosing, the only reason we won is because we had pretty good generals (Washington) and the french helped us out. You can't argue that. Valley Forge, ever heard of it? I'm not saying we didn't win. Obviously we did, but it wasn't like he walked all over them. They were kicking our asses till the end. Also, I believe more American's were killed then British.     what about scotland and the like, england only is about half of britain

    England is much more then half of Britain. Also, the death totals was for Britain, I just put England because it was the first thing that popped in my head.

    at the time they had ireland under their control and even without ireland, england only contributes to slightly over half the landmass of current britain

    You'll probabaly find that its would still be the same, scotland, wales and ireland have allways had a relitivly small population compared to england.
