Go for the 360, it beats the PS3 in so many ways:

    Catalog of games
    Online compatibility
    Price
    Size

    pretty much everything else :P

The 360 Xbox Live System is in my opinion the best because it lets you download demos. I don't know if the PS3 does this to, since I don't have a PS3. But the specifics of the yearly prices is that you can either pay 5 dollars a month or 60 dollars a year. That basically saves you $5 dollars a year. Another reason why I prefer xbox live is that in my opinion they've had more time to prefect it and they have done better in the past and I would think that they would outclass sony in the long run in the Live multiplayer area.

if you were a big movie fan you'de have had an HTPC for the last few years and it wouldn't matter too much since a blu ray driver itself is relatively cheap now

I've just never seen the point to pay for online when I can get it free. Like I said before, I'm not saying it's bad to pay and it's just my opinion. I guess I just like the PS3's games more. I''m not a huge gamer and don't play a lot of first person shooters and all that. I think xbox is for more hardcore gamers. But yeah, on Playstation you can download demo's I don't see why you wouldn't think you could =/. Their system is fine for online, nice and simple, xbox does have a better community I guess, but not that worth it in my opinion.

Killzone 2 is utliizing the space of the blu ray disc

xbox has hidden costs, the wireless thing for internet cost 100
and you have the monthly fees,
the controllers if you go for wireless, you have to buy the battery pack seperatly

but yeah, it comes out to be about the same more or less, look at the exclusive games and
    go off of that

    MGS4 used an entire blu-ray disc. <_<

And there is no system worth your buck. Pump up your PC and just play games on there. Blaw.

Anyway, you said that the 360 games are more for the hardcore gamer type. I would generally agree with that except that the 360 has had it's share of good sports game like: The Bigs, Madden, NCAA. These games look better on the PS3, but don't exclude that they are quite good on the 360. I would rather shoot em up on Halo 3 (360) than play some football on Madden 08 ( looks better on PS3). Halo 3 and Mass Effect are the reasons I would buy 360, it's games like that , which our exclusive to the 360 make the xbox 360 a better buy.

Okay, well the PS3 also has exclusives so that should also make it a better buy if what you're saying is correct. MGS4, Little Big Planet (which is going to be the biggest game to hit stores ever in my opinion xD), Gran Turismo 5, Ratchet & Clank (a great game), Resistance, Killzone, God of War. I don't like some I listed, but it's a nice list none the less.

As a PS3 owner, I prefer the PS3 because of my personal taste in games. I love Ratchet and Clank (and pretty much any game by Insomniac Games), Metal Gear Solid, Resistance, MotorStorm, Uncharted, and other exclusives. You should buy a console that best reflects your taste in gaming. Look at a list of games for each console and see which list tickles your fancy more. That's how I chose my PS3, and I'm very happy with my choice. I also have a Wii, and I plan on buying a 360 later.

Alright, lets put this to bed. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 both have different points that are suitable for different gamers and games. It all depends on your preference and your style of gaming.

If you're getting the PS3, I say get the 80 GB model. The PS3's AAA library is fairly limited for now, so with the backwards compatibility you would be able to enjoy the better PS2 games which are cheaper than PS3 or XB360 games. Plus, if you have friends you can borrow all their games. Or you can get the 360. All that matters is that GTA4 is on both. ;)
