Alright, my brother has 550-650 to spend on a new computer, he doesn't know if he wants a desktop or a laptop. All he wants is a fast computer for using the internet and playing games (not games like cs or anything, just games like miniclip.com and ----). Does anyone have any suggestions?
If it is fast processor, storage and decent graphics card you are looking for I can probably find tons of Prebuilds around that price. Would Frys or Newegg work for you? Also XP or Vista? Z Picked up from Newegg Core2duo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16883227060 Quad (if you want to go that far) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16883227065 Search on Newegg, there are pretty good and decent ones. if not then.. Will post more later
Are you specifically looking for a pre-built model, or is the build it yourself option in the mix? Ill look some up, where do you live? Any best buys, staples, office max's and such around?
Yes, if it is sold at best buy that would be the best option! And thanks Zain, i'll check those ones out. (and it needs to be a complete computer)
Well i wpuld say use bestbuy, depending on what your local store has, and if they do not have what you want im sure they would order it for you through the store. Ill edt this with a few choices. Also, if he buys a desktop does he need mouse monitor keyboard and everything? or just the tower? EDIT: Nevermind, use newegg if possible, your not going to get a better deal than the ones zainx showed you Looks like this ones the best deal at best buy if you need everything, not to shabby, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...mprd92700050002 Otherwise, my brother has one of these, he upgraded to a 8800GT and now can play bioshock, with no lag, and only thing thats holding him back from crysis on high, is he needs 9800GT =O http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1212192194514 or is he possibly would spend more, this is overall my fav at bestbuy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1204331848308
What do you guys think about this laptop? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1204332500561
for what he needs, basically any system with 2GB RAM(more probably wouldn't really help either but it wouldn't hurt since RAM is $20-70 for 2GBdepending on the type), processor speed doesn't matter for what he does(and even if he were gaming it wouldn't matter a ton), graphics card doesn't matter, it sounds like a cheepo budget system, and his budget is decent for that.
the 9800s use the same GPU and memory as the 8800s, they're basically factory overclocked 8800s, in fact prior to the 9800s released 3rd party card makers actually sold 8800s clocked to speeds HIGHER than the 9800s(they don't do that anymore as it ruins margins) in fact, a stock 8800gtx is usually FASTER than a stock 9800GTX. http://en.expreview.com/2008/04/03/geforce-9800gtx-review/ so basically the 9800GTX is a failure for the common man and a marketing gimmick when an 8800GTS 512 is basically the same and costs a fair deal less and an OCed 8800GT is decent for crysis on high/very high FYI also ATI radeon HD4850 > 9800GTX
