    And it's driving me crazy.

I've tried reinstalling windows from an external cd rom drive, but as soon as I insert the cd, the computer keeps rebooting itself until I take it out.
I don't know what to do, I've also tried running an antivirus/spyware scan, and none of both show anything relevant.

    Help please.

How long have you had this computer?

Have you ever upgraded any parts at all?
Manually or By someone else's help?

It has like 10 or 12 years.

And yes, the hard drive was upgraded, as well as ram.
    With someone else's help.

The only thing that bugs me is that it was working alright, my dad took it to his office, and three months later, he gives it back to me. And that's where the problem starts.

Is it rebooting from a cold boot? (boot-up)? Or can you keep it stable enough to run anti virus, your post is misleading.

Try reseting cmos, there should be a jumper on the mobo. Or take out that batery, and put it back in.

If you have had this computer for 10 - 13 years that is a long time
Try upgrading if you want :)

    Other than that
Open up the Tower, Look on your Motherboard, you will see a small battery on it (like a hearing aid one except bigger)
Take it out and reset it, if not then get a new one and put that one in.

De attach your graphics card and HD away from computer and then put them back in. It happens some times that overtime these small things get tangled and loose. So try that.

If everything fails, try to see if you can go into the BIOS and once there reset the BIOS (if possible), if not then choose your primary boot device as your CD Rom and place the XP CD and do a repair installation.

If it still doesn't work, then I suggest you get a NEW Computer because a MOBO that old needs to be upgraded.
You can get computers less than 300$ USD these days so upgrade to a new MOBO or just get a new comp :)

I can keep it stable to run an antivirus.
I run it, and nothing comes out.

I guess I'll just try resetting the BIOS, if that doesn't work, I'll just have to get a new computer.

    What AntiVirus are you running?

I would go with Avast Anti Virus or NOD32
Other than that it is up to you

See if it brings up anything
But I would highly suggest to get a new MotherBoard 10 Years is too much for the MOBO to kill itself on :)

This means there is nothing wrong with what is on your HD

The problem could be that your HD is Damaged Internally
or your Motherboard has been fried up for a long time
Your processor seems to be fine though

Try switching the Hard Drive with an old one or a new one if you like and see if that hd boots and does not restart

If its rebooting itself. Odds are its over heating, or there is a short some where. Make sure everything is properly seated, make sure no wires are routed behind the mobo as that causes shorts.

It's probably that, I'll check it.

Also, when I insert a CD in the computer, the computer reboots. And it keeps rebooting until I get the CD out.
