Compatability Between Pc Parts

    I'm looking to add in two more hard drives, some more RAM, and one more CD Burner. I remember reading back a while ago that you needed to make sure that the parts were compatible. However, I don't know how to check this. Any ideas?

    Current specs (for the above listed, that I know of)
    RAM: 2 x 1GB (Two open slots still), Kingston Brand
    Harddrive(s): 250 GB

    I honestly know very little about building a computer, though I am really interested in learning how to build a desktop. I can provide more information, if needed, by opening up the side of it, but not exactly someone who knows a lot about it.

    DDR2 800 is the type of memory
    and here are a list from doing a search on newegg:

    I know they are compatible though i don't want to pick out which ones you should get since each type of memory although compatible are different. xlink should handle that.

    for the drves ensure that you're getting the right type, you'll either be looking for PATA based drives(also called IDE or eIDE) or SATA drives depending on the age of your system, newer ones tend to have both but going with SATA as much as possible is best

    as for RAM, if you've got DDR1 previously in your system go get more DDR1 RAM, if DDR2, get more DDR2 shouldn't be too hard to do.

    It's not to hard to pick out compatible parts... i looked at the motherboard you posted and you can buy

    667mhz or 800mhz ram, it must be DDR2 and your motherboard supports dual channel ram if you want dual channel.

    For the hard drives you have a choice, since you mb has one ide 133 slot you could buy an ide drive but you would have to check and make sure that the slot it still open, your motherboard also supports sata2 which is backwards compatible with sata... so pick any hard drive you want that is connected via sata (get retail instead of oem)

    The cd burner can be either sata or ide just again check and see if the slot is being used

    edit: also make sure your power supply has enough connectors to power these and make sure it can handle that many watts!
