carrying around the second is a bit easier.. same case with living space.. id rather have a strong computer fit in the corner of my room than a big assed machine taking up half of it. but this is a little ridiculous:
Actually none of you stated the most important reason: The smaller it is, the less materials it consumes, the less materials it consumes - the cheaper it s. it's not about convenience, it's about productivity. Although, some small things can be expensive, such as processors, but never as expensive as those huge, ancient computers.
Even though that's a valid point, I see some flaws. No matter what the technological product is, over time the price falls. From the decades you are talking about (ancient computers to current), technology has improved and products have become more common. (Commonality is more of a reason for price dropping than time is) And I don't know how many times I've seen a product get smaller and more expensive. True in some cases, but definitely not all.
I would have to agree. Space and price are both very important factors. The smaller it is, most likely it will be cheaper, making more people wanting to buy it over the more expensive brands. I don't think someone wants to carry around somthing that is well over 400 pounds.
