Another Homework One

my first time doing one of these homework things

theres 2 parts

PART A.

Read the following quote and discuss in a brief 150 word response if you think this is a valid comment.
"Whether an action is right or wrong depends of the practices and norms of the society. The same action may be morally right in one society but morally wrong in another.

PART B.
Chinas population is spiralling out of control. As a result, the Chinese government began implementing a "One Child Population Control Policy" in 1979 to attempt to avert a future population disaster.

According to many sources in the Western World the policy is unjust and cruel. Many western reports list these following abuses and argue that the policy should be stopped:
- unauthorized pregnancies are often terminated by abortion when detected
- mandatory IUD insertion in women with one child
- baby boys are preferred over baby girls--leads to sex selection by ultrasound, or even drowned after birth in rural areas
- illegal children (unauthorized births) are not entered on population register so child recieves no medical benefits, no schooling, etc.

Assignment: Write a letter to a friend living in China who supports the One Child Policy telling her how you feel about this practice. Don't forget to consider the theory of Ethical Relativism and the current situation in Chinda before responding. Search articles on this topic for more information and backup resources.
