So you agree with my theory of the radiation, but what do you think about the US being over powered and detering when they themselves are dangerous to the rest of the world.

I have already phrased my opinion on the nuclear aspect and strengths of the US, go back and read my posts again.

edit: and Xlink, how long do you expect cockroaches to live when their food source is poisoned? They can resist the temperature and blast radius of the bombs, not the radiation and poisoning.

you forget how quickly those suckers breed and that the radiation dissipates relatively quickly. there are still people from Hiroshima and Nagasaki around. radiation poisoning isn't instant and each successive generation go ------roaches has less and less radiation to deal with and thus a potentially longer lifespan. remember those things breed rather rapidly...

do recall that life has some radiation tolerance... what the heck do you think the sun is?

again the nuclear capacty that we have is only enough to take out effectively every major population center. city have a population of over 10,000? it's gone. things out in the country side wouldn't be directly affected. again radiation poisoning would be a slow horrible death... but it'd be SLOW. the first time it rains anywhere, most of that radiation would be drawn out to sea, be it directly or through evaporation and recondensation, seek the lowest area and eventually be swallowed up by a deep sea vent and circulated among molten rock thoroughly diluting it. or it'll sit on the bottom of the sea for all eternity or otherwise diluted within the ocean

don't get me wrong it'd be an ecological nightmare, but it wouldn't necessarily be a finale...

I would personally enjoy seeing the US try to recreate itself after a post apocalyptic event tbh.

which is what is happening now with israel practising bombing runs the distance of iran's nuclear plants.
and was what i meant about the east grouping together. Russia, China, Iran and some other eastern countries.
