Ok so whenever I start playing a game on my computer (its a Dell Laptop), anywhere from 5 minutes into the game to maybe a few hours, at some point in time my computer freezes, my screen goes black, and then my game basically lags so much I get kicked out of the servers. After I get back to my desktop, a little screen pops up in the bottom right saying my display driver has stopped working and has been recovered.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

A world far beyond your imagination...
Please Specify your Dell Laptop Configuration & The Model Number.

Your Dell Laptop (if old), needs either a re-installation of the Graphics Card Driver.

It can be found by Visiting the Dell Support Center, Driver Downloads Section Here.
Specify your Laptop Model Number then, download the correct Driver for either XP or Vista.

Further more, it will help if you use the Windows Update to update your current configuration to the newest updates :)

You can also Roll Back the Driver to a previous installation if this problem occured after a specific Driver Installation or a Program Installation.
To go to Device Manager in XP
    --Win Key + R
    --Type in devmgmt.msc
    --Select your Video Display Driver
--Right Click or Double Click for Properties
    --Go to Driver Details Menu
    --Click Roll Back Driver

If the Driver cannot be Rolled Back to a Previous Stage, then Use System Restore to go back to a Restore Point created back in the Past
Somewhere around a day or two if this problem occurred since then!

    Hope that helped,
    Vanquish

Not a clue what my configuration or model number is....although I do not really see where that comes into play here.

First off its a new computer less than a year old, so no problems there. Then also, it just started randomly, definately did not happen after any particular install. As well, my computer is fully updated on everything.

    I'm guessing it shows this:

    It may also say this:
"display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

    1. Uninstall display drivers.
    2. Boot into safe mode and run Driver Cleaner -----. (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745#download)
    3. Choose all the nvidia drivers, such as display drivers and all other that says nvidia.
    4. Reboot, install these drivers:

    Vista: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index....showtopic=18824
    XP: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index....showtopic=18823

BTW: you need the modified inf files to install these drivers. The links are right next to the drivers. To get the inf files to work, extract the drivers and and download the inf file. Then copy the inf file into where you extracted the drivers. A lot of people have this problem especailly with laptops. I also had this problem. If this doesn't work, then search in your C drive for all the files called "nvlddmkm.sys" These are left over after you install new drivers.

Awesome saber, thank you. That is exactly what comes up, so I will definitely try this and see if it helps!
