I would take a look at some macs, they run programs like photoshop better then most pc's. However, they can cost a little more, but the new os is fairly decent.

I would suggest building one if you possibly can. Its a better price than the store, and you get what you want, and you have the experience of building your own, and you can always upgrade it later.

wait, all macs are PCs(technically PC clones but here and today EVERYTHING IS A PC CLONE), how are they better able to run stuff than themselves? that's paradoxical.

in full seriousness though(since apple fan boys get really pissed off when the technicality of all apple computers currently produced being PC clones is brought up), apple's products are overpriced, it's an OS swap and a pretty case. They can't really play games unless you isntall windows anyway so you're back where you started, using windoze as your primary OS.

also, in a lot of cases it's been found that a lot of ported apps run significantly slower. WoW runs slower, doom runs slower, they're not getting the 64bit version of photoshop for a while, they were the first hacked computer in the pwntoown contest(literally took 3 minutes, windows machine took 3 days(using an exploit also present on the apple system and despite apple having been notified sooner than MS, M$ still got their patch out weeks before apple) and the linux machine never fell)

that CPU is worth around $90
    the RAM $25-30
    card sells for $130ish

I'd say $500ish for something similar.

It's been a while since I posted in this, but I bought myself a computer since I really didn't want to wait and build one.
[I got some money from the grant money I didn't use while in college this quarter...they gave me more than what I needed]
I looked around and got a computer for $450.

It's an Emachine. [I know how they can get...but the store only had them and Dells...ewww...]

It has an AMD athlon 64 Processor 3800+ 2.40GHz, 1GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405, and other nice stuff.

It's so much better than my last computer. :D

<_< What? It was better than the ones they had at the store. It runs great.

It's not like I'm going to play any games on here and stuff.

Plus, I can always upgrade. <_<
