So the main differences are for the 80 gb vs the 40 gb is the 80 has more memory it has flash card readers backwards compatibility 4 usb ports comes w/ a game either MGS4 or motorstorm (don't really care about either that much but its a 60 dollar value) and comes w/ a dualshock 3 controller the 40 gb doesn't have flash card readers doesn't have backwards compatibilty only has 2 usb ports doesn't come w/ a game comes w/ sixaxis controller (dualshock 3 controler minus the rumble) it runs slightly quieter and slightly more energy efficient and it is 100 dollars cheaper and also comes w/ a 100$ giftcard for walmart i don't need to pay any extra so basically the 40 gb is 200 cheaper i don't have a ps2 or any ps2 games, but if there are super good ps2 games like final fantasy i'll want to get them in the distant future if i did get the 80 gb so which one should i get? oh yeah how is the memory used up for anyways? i know there are demos and game installations, but since i don't dl movies will i be needing the extra memory?
I got the 80 GB, it may be worth a bit more but it has the backwards compatibility like you said. Sony already said that an 80 is going to be filled up quick with all the games coming out that require a lot of space for drivers and all. So, take into consideration that the 40 will fill up 2x faster. Also, I got the 80 and was able to trade in my PS2 to Gamestop for 50 and was able to get a game with that xD. They have a pack too I think now for the 80 that comes with MGS4 : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;js...mprd91200050000
Well about the 80 gig, the backwards capability isn't exactly stellar, you'll find that some games won't work on it, while some can, because the 80 doesnt have the ps2's chip inside it. But hey, I have a 60 gig from launch, and I damn as well am proud to have payed 800 bucks for it.
yes i bought the 40gig without knowing about the backwards compatability, and i traded my ps2 in when i got the system aswell, it sucked. but yer i'd reccomend the 80gig, costs more but it has backwards compataibility plus a free game.
i got the 40gb because of these reasons ... - HDD can be put in yourself - If you aint going to play PS2 games then backward compatibility is useless (I have got like 3 PS2s to play 40+ games on & i aint using a PS3 to play PS2 games) - Card Readers .. not very important use a dam PC lol - Dual Shock Pads - I want one can be bought .. they aint much The game installs data into the HDD .. like when you install a game into a PC - It only happens on some games for example the only one i can think of at the moment is MGS4 - On each act it installs stuff .. Another example is GTA4 .. now that takes forever to install lol - Some games dont need to install The space does run out quick if you got many games but will last you for a while - I have got 5 games and got 18GB left and I dont dont DL movies or demos etc - I am planning on buying a 240GB HDD or was it 140 i cant remember now for the PS3 later on
get 80 gb much better it has more memory, usb ports really useful,it comes with MGS4 the best game out there its fantastic, its the same price trust me the 80 gb is worth it the 40 gb is good but not if you wanna play the games that are coming out you will run out of memory but its up to you plz don`t look at my post and say MGS4 is not the best game out there bcuz as much as i love to argue i don`t anyways i would go with the 80gb
