Ok, lets say im rendering and there is a guy smoking, but that smoke would look 20x better if it was rendered out, how would i get it out? cause the lasso/pen tool is hard for this thing.

pentool + smudge the smoke in a way to make it close or similar to the original thing.

So you want to use extraction?Alright but you should know it doesn't always come out 100% right, it's best if you have the effect on a solid black background for minimal cleanup afterwards(unless your doing human hair extraction then you would want a solid white bg, but the extraction method is different in that case).

Anyway first duplicate your original stock(this is done before you cut the image, using the duplicate stock for the extraction part comes after), hide the original, you might wanna name the duplicate "effect layer" or something like that.Second, go to filter>extract(or press alt+ctrl+x) and set your options so they look like this:

The brush size doesn't really matter unless you need to extract the effect from tight spaces, in which case you would use a smaller brush. Now highlight all of the effect and the press ok.Now ctrl+click on the "effect layer", this should make a marquee around it.Then, click on our original stock layer, press ctrl+j(makes a duplicate, you may wanna name it something like color effect layer), press ctrl+d, and move the new layer to the top.Now duplicate this new "color effect layer" 5-10 times until the color doesn't get any more vivid, or until you like it.Now merge down all the "color effect layers"( and the "effect layer" if you want).Wah-lah, you should have successfully extracted an effect.

Info about this method: Like stated before it might require quite a bit of cleanup afterwards if you didn't do this to a picture with a solid black bg.From what I can tell the method works off of light, so any bit of light on the bg(whether you can see it or not) will turn into annoying grainy particles you'll have to clean up at the end.

    I hope all that helps.
