If anyone watched the game tonight, the rays lost. But there was a fight in the second inning.
There were tensions between the teams dating back to... well there have always been tensions. But yesterdays game had a Rays player being thrown at, so today Shields returned the favor. As the announcer mentioned Shields threw low and for Coco to run at him was ridiculous.
Either way he got clubbed by about half the team. It's like when a linebacker takes a shot at a quarterback or a forward takes a shot at a goalie. Pitchers are meant to be protected because they're the most valuable players in the game. They win or lose it for you.
So when Coco charged, so did half the rays team, right art him.
He can been seen ducking a right jab by Shields and missing a wide open punch he had the opportunity of landing. Has this guy ever fought before? He is then tackled by Navarro and pounded by about 4 or 5 players which he rightfully deserves.
For those who watch baseball, once you run at the pitcher you know this is going to happen to you. Usually it doesn't work out this way because the hitters team gets there in time to keep the pitchers team from mauling the rusher.
As we all know, on the other hand, the Red Sox are old and fat. So it didn't work out for them.
Cheers to the rays, I watched the video twice, and it was that much sweeter each time.

I think you need to watch the video again because not only did Shields pitch low and in to Crisp, the pitch hit him. So Crisp charging the mound is hardly "ridiculous." It may not be the smartest move or the right move but due to the circumstances of the last game or so, he apparently felt it was warranted. Not only that but Shields also hit Pedroia earlier in the game so he had something coming and a fight of some sort was inevitable. Nothing else really warrants a response especially when you're going to use a lame insult like "the Red Sox are old and fat."

Yeah, I saw that too, I have no idea what that was about. But Youkilis said something to set Manny off, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and he looked surprised by Manny taking a swipe at him.

Illuminati, yes he did throw low, and yes he did hit him. But that was in retaliation for what he did the game before with a blatantly dirty slide into second that took Iwamura off his feet. Ask any person that knows a thing about baseball they would rather a pitcher pitch low than to pitch high. So for Shields to pitch low it was a good move.
For Coco to charge the mound it is ridiculous because he should have expected a retaliation for what he did the prior game.

Red Sox still kick ass (in-terms of winning, not fighting).
