My fan on vista is always running loud now. the fans always over 3000RPM is this normal, like i've never looked into fan stuff before its just since i got vista, obviously my computer is working harder and is heating up more or something if i need a new fan or maybe a liquid cooling system or something, can anyone help me out + give prices? Thanks!
is it a case fan or the fan cpu? If its the cpu fan there will be an option in the bios that will increase/decrease the speed depening on the heat/load of the cpu or you could use speedfan to control the fan speeds of all your fans but it doesnt work with all motherboards. Also if its a case fan what size is it 120mm, 92mm, 80mm. I would look for fans that put off less than 30dba, whatever fan you happen to get dont get SilenX fans their noise level specs are complete BS.
ok im assuming you have a prebuilt computer like a dell,HP etc since you cant change it in the bios. All motherboard companys have utilty software that you can adjust fan speeds voltages etc.. right from your desktop. You can download cpu-z and find out who made the board and download their utilty software. The only other things you can do is just replace the fan on the cpu itself, replace the fan and heatsink altogether or buy a fan controller like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835118217 if you you decide to buy a fan and heatsink you will need to know the cpu chipest intel/amd and socket 775/am2 am2+
