right now im running xp --- 64 bit...but whenever i try to go 2 vista 64 bit it installs and after it installs i get the blue screen. any ideas why?
First is it Legal? ...? I have had the problem with this but with the 32bit version and Vista Ultimate Anyways try to burn the disc onto another DVD and try re-installing it that way most probably it is a screwed up disk... -Zain
If you can get me the EXACT Error code that your computer Shoots out I maybe able to help you out a bit more Like it usually says towards the bottom Technical Information Stop: ..........................xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx..................(bunch of Numbers) Jot those down and tell me... -Zain
Alright did a little bit of research! There isn't any problem with your Hardware but might be with some Incompatible Programs that you had on XP ...? which weren't needed or couldn't run on Vista? If so Revert back to xp and run the Vista Installation Upgrade Advisor. Other There might be a problem with the Gigs of RAM you are using? If you currently have 4 Gigs plugged in, take it out and try installing with only 2 and then when you get it installed then upgrade to 4 gigs that might be one of the problems It could also be your audio Driver on your current PC Make sure that driver is up to date and vista compatible! Other than that If you have some type of name for the error that might be needed as well Something Like: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP and others... Look here to see if you can find yours: http://aumha.org/a/stop.php#0x7e Hope that helps a little -Zain Edit: Also from Microsoft.. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930979
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777 Try installing that update for the X64 Bit for Vista see after that if it works Other than that if that does not work then all I can say is that you will need to manually change the settings in BIOS so your computer can read the 4GB of RAM most of the motherboards out there released an update for the 64bit reading 4GB+ RAM but so far, nothing is sure if they will fully utilize the 4gb ram ...Try that but I am not sure that it will work Contact your Motherboard Manufacture and ask them if they have any update ... also update BIOS! -Zain
