Hello all. I've recently noticed a major impact on my internet: I'm getting slower download speeds, very high ping on games: On CS:Soruce and TF2, servers where I used to get 15-50 -> BAM 250-450 ! I tried turning off all background applications, and firewall, and nobody uses the net except MOI! I'm on an ADSL modem that is linked to a wireless router that feeds the signal to my USB wireless thingy... This is what I pay for: Here is my speedtest result: 500 Ping to a melbourne server, come on ! I live next to the bloody server Help meeeeee Thanks y'all.
Anyone will tell you, the best connection is a hard wired connection, straight from your PC to the router/modem. But, in my case and yours, we use Wireless... Try these: -Lock down your router, hide your SSID and put a WEP key on it.. -Unplug your router/modem for 5 secs, replug back in.. -leave your router/modem off for 3 hrs, to get a new IP (times vary) -Defrag HDD -Reformat sometimes helps..<--last case, cuz reformatting sucks.
the clue is in the name BigPond ADSL Liberty (12GB) You have a 12GB per month download limit, use more than 12gb your ISP throttles you meaning ----ty download speeds and ----ty pings. and I dunno about the conversion rate at the moment but that seems like a pretty big rip off price.
O wow, i didnt see that 12GB part.. ya that means u get 12GB bandwidth a month.. meaning dont download alot.. just play your games..
Try these things...: 1. Shut your modem and router off for 20 seconds, then turn it up and see if the problem is resolved. 2. Try opening the ports needed for the game, you can see how you do that on www.portforward.com , quite long to explain. 3. Set your UPnP open! UPnP stands for Universal Plug and Play, there should be a little box that can enable/disable it in the setup of your router. Good luck!
