I just signed up for this viral advertising website, and i have to say, it is an absoloutely amazing idea!

For those of you who don't know how most of the sites work...
You get sent to a page with about 7 ads on it. When you sign up, you get a page like this with your ad at the top. Then when you get people to sign up via your page, their page has their ad in the 1st spot, and yours in the second. So if you get 10 people to sign up, and they get 10, etc etc...By the time you are down to the 7th place, you will have 1 million web pages advertising your website.

And with those people wanting more pages, they want to advertise, so you keep getting views on those pages, even if its only 1 per day, thats 1 million possible clicks to your site.

This is pure genius, there is no loss involved, at all.

With Adsense, you pay per click, so if you were to get a million clicks, it would cost like £200,000. Which is a ridiculous sum of money. And the people that click may not even do what you want them to.

So what do you guys think, will it take over?

The problem with these types of websites is that your not receiving any targeted advertising. With adsense at least you know that the majority of the people that click your links are interested in your type of website becasue they have read the text on it and clicked on it (yes you can get people that click it by mistake but that generally isnt likely). If your just looking to get a bit of traffic to your website without anyone having any interest in it, e.g your site consists mainly of ads, then I suppose viral advertising might be useful but if your advertising a website that require people to sign up, e.g a forum, or visit numerous pages on your website then you'll be unsuccessful.

There's a big difference between having quality targetted advertising and poor untargetted 'spam' advertising. This is the reason most free traffic exchange programs (which have been around for a very long time) aren't very useful and aren't a good alternative to paid advertising like adsense.

I see where you're coming from, but i have personally never clicked an advertisement from Google adsense, and i have found quite a few things browsing these sites.

It's an interesting concept, but it generally doesn't hold up very well if you're doing something that requires participation.
