Not only here has slowed down. A lot of other forums have got inactive and or died... Graphics scene is dying and its sad to see.
You know, I noticed something recently regarding everything 'dying'. This is something I haven't noticed until all the complaints about activity here on GR started coming into focus (well, at least it wasn't ever a clear thought in my mind). No matter what the stance of an area of controversy IS in, people always feel like complaining. In particular I have been listening to talk shows, radio, etc. regarding world events, and no matter what the dicussion is, people are always say some of the most negative things about it, and rarely anything positive. There is a lot of people claiming inactivity here at GR, which can be argued to an extent, but post wise, yes. However, I am sure you are all 100% aware that it is 100% out of the staffs hands to increase activity on a site this large. Sure, on smaller sites we could boost activity by posting resources, etc. but not on GR, you simply can't stimulate 200,000 members that way. A site this large RELIES on its community to spark up activity. If YOU want this site to become more active, YOU need to start posting, and YOU need to start contributing (or contribute MORE). I realise the staff here, myself being a major contributor, haven't made this place entirely a positive reinforced one. I do, however, want to point out that we are slowly removing rules, and allowing far more leniancy here at the site. We are going to be going through massive changes here, and within those changes, rules will be re-written entirely, and along with new rules, comes new punishments, and we will clearly outline our basis for punishments here on GR within the new rules. It may also come to a surprise, but I have banned VERY few people here on GR in the last couple of months, the majority being ban evaders, most others get a formally written PM from the administrative team regarding their actions, and alternative punishments to bans, or long term suspensions. We ARE coming up with unique systems for GR, including a new reputation mod which will actually be of legitimate value rather than the ego contest we have with our current system, we ARE coming up with a classing system that is completely unique from anything I have seen, we ARE making a 100% fresh marketplace, credit system, bank system, we ARE possibly making a resource 'gallery' of sorts, where you can browse through a database of GR's currently online resources, NEW membership benefits, NO MORE flame forum (spam heaven will remain, but will be renamed Off Topic, as it used to be, as a place to post videos, etc. of silly things), a main site content management system (CMS), and this above is just the tip of all the changes that will be occuring here. We will be sending out a mass e-mail to the members of GR letting them know about the new changes, and we will of course be accepting CONSTRUCTIVE feedback regarding the changes.
Unfortunately it has been pushed back a couple of months. Our modification coder has contracts with other websites to update mods with IPB updates, and IPB 3 is coming out in 3 weeks, so our initial deadline was June 1st, its now going to be August 1st, possible another week or two after that. The closer we get, the more accurate of a time frame we can give ya.
