So ive got a BFG 7800GS AGP video card. I use RivaTuner v2.08 to OC. Its all good.

Apparently the video card has two (3 technically) settings: 'Standard 2D' and 'Performance 3D'. Obviously the 2d is for when im just surfin the web doin non gaming things and vice versa. Herein lies the problem.

I'm playing Crysis and its great, im getting double fps from some minor overclocks, but like 5 minutes into the game my computer freezes for a couple seconds then unfreezes. I started with 26 fps and it shot down to 9... For some reason my video card set itself back down to 2d mode while im in the middle of my game. My 2D mode is clocked at (275/1200), 3d mode at (470/1400), so yea theres a big difference.

How do I stop it from doing this illogical act? <_<

    quick specs:
    AMD64 3800 (not X2)
    WinXP ---
    2GB Corsair
    BFG 7800GS
    500W PSU

EDIT: Yes i have the latest 169.21 drivers and the temps never went above 65C full load, ~50C idle. Today i cant even get my card to clock above 2d mode even when i enter games! =(
