I figured this was the best section for this. Anyway, I took some photos earlier and I went to upload them. I plugged everything in correctly, turned the camera on but my computer wouldn't upload anything. I figured maybe something was wrong with the memory card, and there is. Now, whenever I turn my camera on there's this message: "READ ERROR, PLEASE CHECK THE CARD." The thing is, I can't really afford to lose the pictures on this camera. So, is there any way that I can somehow save the pictures from the card and get them uploaded? Thanks in advance. (my camera is a DMC-LX1 in case that info is needed.)
ok well as you're using sd/mmc card, the best thing that I can think of, is to go out and possibly get an sd/mmc card reader (can be picked up for a couple of £/$) - Take the card out of the camera and trying reading the card directly through a card reader.
OR, try one of those kodac picture print stations. Might pick it up. If not, pretty sure there are data recovery company's, but it will cost way more than the thing is worht. (unless really important photos)
As leet said, I would try it on various platoforms before purchasing anything...friend's computer with a card reader...print stations...friend's cameras....etc. If none of those "Free" options work...no need spending money. But also...as leet...said there are agencies who can "force" data off of old hardrives...memory cards etc if the pictures are a MUST have.
Did a research on your Camera, and by looking at the specs you should have an SD Memory Card for the storage of your pictures.. Depending on what type of Laptop (if you have one) you have, there should be a memory card reader somewhere on the Laptop as it comes with some new ones these days. If not then you can get some SD card readers for a few Euros / USD. Newegg has some So yeah try that... Other than that Plug it into a School Computer, or Somewhere Else READ ERROR, PLEASE CHECK THE CARD Seeing that is your error the problem is with your Camera, so I would say Try out the Card Reader and see if that can get you back your Pictures Once that is done take it to Best Buys or Fry's to get it fixed ... Your camera is around 350 USD if I am not wrong right? So just replace it if it is old.. -Zain
