It has the most annoying security system ever. Security isn't really needed if you know wtf you're doing. 2 Months ago, I never had an anti-virus. Was too lazy for one. I wasn't using one for over a year, no firewall, nothing. When I did get one, I scanned my system & found NOTHING. Also, Vista has too many processes running at once, making it a resource hog. It looks nice but it's nothing that great. Just an annoying OS full of stupid issues.
what was the point of that? it's all the same under boot camp, resource-wise. that is, Vista gets access to just as much of my hardware as OS X does, which is all of it. it still didn't work properly for me.
If by "most annoying security system ever." you are referring to User Account Control, or UAC.....if you knew "wtf " you were doing, you would know that it can be turned off, as can the rest of Vista's security features, you can then use any antivirus/firewall that you wish to use. It being a resource hog is only relevant, if you have ---- for resources.....since you didn't post your specs, I am going to assume that you are running a 1 gig of RAM and have a single core processor....until you inform me otherwise....lol... Why is that a problem? that just means that the firewall was doing its job....unless its function has changed to allow viruses into your system.... If you find nothing, you probably have nothing...
The main reason some people don't use vista is because of its temperamental attitude. My friend has a monster of a computer and every now and again so sort of error would go on. He would catch a virus even using AVG which in my opinion is very good and efficient. His screen would go blue and have to reboot in the middle of major essays and the list continues. He has changed a lot of things in the computer including his graphics card and his screen to see if anything else would happen and no. Still the viruses and problems occur. After several months of problems wit Vista he has become fed up with it and has gone back to faithful XP and since then has had not one single problem.
Every version has been this way. Even pre-release longhorn editions. And no "warez" sites I know contain a modded version of Vista that has that feature turned off.
I don't like it because: 1. Whenever I use it, I get a bad feel from the the GUI. It feels too "soft" if that makes any sense. 2. It asks you to verify every single thing you do. Slows down the experience. 3. Microsoft intentionally overcomplicates stuff (trying to lure consumers to buy more expensive versions of the same software, making Google's search software perform poorly) 4. I just think Leopard is prettier. 5. XP has a much wider fan base. 6. Security flaws (such as the one Adobe knew about but didn't fix [Why in the world did ADOBE know about it and prepare a fix?]) Anyway, I need to use a computer running OS X for compatibility's sake (first person you've ever heard say that right?).
1. You can turn every part of that off and for gods sake don't say "you don't need security". You DO 2. You admit to just being too lazy to get antivirus despite the fact they're free. Lets face it, with no firewall or anything (though personally I doubt you had the likes of Windows Firewall turned off as you blatantly don't get that OS security systems aren't fixed) you just got lucky. 3. I will personally laff when you're machine burns around you. 4. Vista ISN'T that bad a resource hog if you know what you're doing. Tone down a small selection of visuals, override some of the on-boot options and uninstall a handful of unneeded programs and you're fine. It's worse than XP but guess what! Every upgrade of any software is always more resource heavy as it has more features and more going on to make it a better experience. 5. Vista has sooooo few issues compared to XP or 2000 when they were originally released that's barely an argument. 1. Interesting but I kinda know what you mean 2. Turn off UAC. Not hard trust me. 3. Really? Odd only most people that use Vista complain about it being over SIMPLIFIED not too complicated and personally I couldn't agree more. It is basically XP to use only slightly more logical. Plus I really have no idea what Google has to do with that... 4. Fair nuff 5. Only because of unfair press, a longer existance and the fact that many people haven't upgraded their computers since Vista was released 6. Again, it really doesn't have many security flaws compared to other M$ OS releases and most were plugged pretty quickly. I'm not going to lie and say Vista is the answer to everything, personally I don't want to even upgrade my XP machine as I feel what we have in Vista was largely a stop-gap before Windows 7 which should actually deliver but for my laptop I have no problems using Vista on a day to day basis. Most people that "hate" the OS haven't even tried it for any length of time, or tried it for an hour and decided its too unlike XP or whatever. Its psychological fact that people rarely like change and nearly all software updates undergo a lot of stick when first released its just with Vista the stick has stuck...so to say lol
Under normal use I agree with that but a well tweaked xp can load much faster than vista, for example by loading my kernal into ram rather than to the pagefile i can boot xp in under half, maybe even closer to a quater of the time compared to default settings
i dont hate vista, in fact: i like it! it looks good, it is stable ( with 3 gigs ram), it is comfortable, it is easy.. in my eyes, best win OS ever!
it doesnt make use of the 64 bit as well as it could yet, its not that its bad imo, im waiting till an sp2 comes out though... only real thign i have against it is the blatant attempt to copy apple's ui
I'm quite satisfied about Vista to be honest. Thing is people need to get over it as everyone also hated XP as much they hate Vista at the moment when XP was introduced.
