I have just gotten back to visiting GR after about a yr absence (due to work)... I have noticed in this past week or so just how much GR has changed...
Here are a few things I've noticed that I hope to find answers to lol :D

    1. When I first started visiting GR there was HEAPS of petty little arguments being posted in the forum prob section... and LOTS of bitching about + and - reps...
Now I barely notice a single post in this section at all, which I find quite pleasing as all the bitching was extremely tedious!

    2. Is it just me, or have the GR staff in general removed the rather large pole they wedged firmly between their butt cheeks... in the past, all I ever saw was staff throwing their perceived authority about and causing more harm than good IMO.
Was this a conscious decision by GR or have ppl just chillaxed in the past yr.

    3. The forum is a WHOLE lot tidier than it used to be...
    Great improvement IMO.

    4. No one seems to sell much anymore, why is this. What happened to all the cred sellers etc ?
I kind of miss some of the stuff you could find here.

    5. The teams were all full of themselves and were more interested in causing ---- and being elitist...
They seem to be a whole lot nicer now, or have I missed summat.

Is there anything from GR's 'past' that ppl would like to see return?

Has anyone noticed changes that they approve of or dislike?

I'm quite interested in what others may think.

    Cheers,

    RoObs

1 - We tend to address issues fast, with accurate responses, and most of hte active community members are also active IRC members, and the IRC members may as well be staff in the amount of knowledge regarding GR decisions.

2 - Yes, and we will continue to give back priviliges and be more lenient with punishments, so long as the members understand that repeated abuse of said priviliges will result in losing those said priviliges again.

3 - Another development the staff agreed on prior to our next big jump into GR v4 (hehe, teaser).

4 - Not sure, don't care personally. I never viewed the marketplace forums as I never agreed with them in the first place (except for services and auctions).

5 - Generally because they are inactive, and otherwise don't have the ego due to lack of activity within the crew, but they won't be around much longer.

Thank you for making this post Roobs, I would also like to hear feedback on the questions you asked, they will help GR overall, especially in our next planned large transition between GR v3 and GR v4.

Credit steal item and legendary people quitting tagging

I myself loved this place back in like 2006 - First half of 2007, don't really care anymore though

I hope it will have e-drama in it

Oh and my suggestion would be to move the Rate the sig above you back to "signatures", that is where it belongs.

    @ Dementia

I'm glad to hear that I'm not imagining things... I think the site is better than it used to be, that's for sure :)

In regards to the marketplace - I liked scouring thru all of the sections - granted, there was a lot of ----, but all that creativity seems to have died lol.

As for the teams - I have no clue but I'm sure they'll be interested to know they are close to being booted :P

And my pleasure - was interested to know where the changes came from :D

    @ Kennedy

I loved it back then - but I also like the calm of now - although ppl are less inclined to make comments on anything at all these days it seems - I miss all the activity a post could generate...

The render's section I belive is seem to be dieng, ..Little to no renders bieng uploaded, I used to see loads every day, now they'res only like 3/6 uploaded a day.

Ontop of that, The amount of spamming inside renders/premium renders is a bit bad,

But yes, over the year's GR has slowed down.

You guys all make me lawl. Exactly 1 year ago, was prolly the worst part of GR history. There was no "community" back then. It was just a bunch of credit hungry whores, and people who sell their signatures for credits. Once the credits were taken away, some left GR, or just the signature scene completely, as if their presence will be missed. I really liked GR about 3 years ago, when I first joined, because back then it was everyone learning graphics at the same time, and there was the "community" feeling everywhere.

That community feeling died over the past 2 years, and started to come back when the credits were eliminated. Oddly enough, as soon as credits were eliminated, the quality of the people that decided to stay, were higher, the staff relaxed, and credit whoring/selling no longer became a problem (I wonder if any of this had to do with the steal credit item.... </sarcasm>).

    Yes.

The changes that will come will likely wipe out most of the credit hungry whores, and keep those whom value the site and its members around. It will likely cut activity a little at first, but it will make the site a community again, or at least we are quite content that it will.

I agree entirely with you Shneaky.

Are you saying what I think you're saying? All crews won't be around anymore?

Yes, that is a strong possibility.

Not for sure yet, but again, strong possibility.

I'd really disagree with taking out crews. I had always been on GR, but I didn't really feel apart of the community until I joined BC. I know a lot of people feel the same. I can agree with taking out some of the inactive crews, but I will argue they can help the community.

Well, we are removing crews, we may be allowing an alternative, but they won't be as casual as they are now, and they will have specific stipulations.

crews might be getting the axe? ;____; i rather like BC - we've made it the most active crew here.

well, specific stipulations as in having to battle other crews on a regular basis/put out tagwalls on a deadline? :(

i think part of BC's appeal is that we're a close-knit group, and while we like to do large crew projects, we understand that some of our members can't always produce on demand.

Its likely going to be required to release art packs, learning resources, and regularly, not just once when your made and then you go inactive. You have to prove activity, improvement, etc. as it will go with the genre GR will be going, but I can't release more info than that.
