Render is low-quality and very blurry. The effects and coloring are okay, but they could be better if you added some depth. Try using the burn/dodge tool as well as the smudge tool under certain settings to create depth.
I was thinking about the way Jin looked as well, but that's how he was on the DVD case. I shoulda picked a different stock of him. I might just reopen it in Photoshop and try what you said, see what I can make of it.
