never tried gimp before so cant really give my opinion on it
ive learned everything graphically from ps so i dont really think i would be used to another design program so if i did give my opinion it would probably be biased towards ps

although gimp does have some good out comes i mean dr pepsi is probably one of the best designer on here and he uses gimp so it cant be bad at all
i think it jus comes down to personal preference

    Exactly.

    He just pwned you all.

I used gimp for awhile, I didn't exactly learn to fully use it. But it is quite easier to use, first time I got photoshop, it was quite hard to make sigs. Too much layers and such, but GIMP, yeah it might have some flaws - but seriously, every program has flaws - this topic is useless in many ways.

The difficulty of making tags really doesn't have much to do with how many layers you put into them, you can just save a blank BG that's tag size on both programs and still call it a tag.

And actually he didn't "pwn" us all since he's reply didn't have much of anything to do with why GIMP was better it was more of a request to "think outside the box", which I can completely understand where he's coming from it's just in my personal experience PS did everything better for me in every aspect of "design"( and yes I did use The GIMP for more then 2 weeks and actually came to a pretty good understanding of how the program works IMO, but like I said out of the two PS just seemed to be the easier way of doing things).

I do believe that because of The GIMP's "flaws" that it does sort of limit your creativity in that it kind of slows down(it doesn't stop it) your ability to excel in design. Not that you can't overcome those obstacles, it's just takes more time then it would in PS IMO.Like I pretty much said before though if you don't have the money, you want to be legal, and your only going to use PS for little things do not get it, just use a program like the GIMP which still does nice work with a lot of practice.

Yeah. But it gets so annoying when PS users bash GIMP because it has "flaws". Seriously, I've seen GIMP users own the hell out of PS users by 9000.

Yes, Krazy it is annoying. It's rediculous how some people think they are superior to me just because of their program. A lot of PS users seem to have that kind of attitude here. But on Gimp forums, Gimp users don't ever try to make others look inferior.

But on a GIMP forum wouldn't they all be using GIMP?But yeah I know what you guys mean, your creativity shouldn't be judged on the tool you use it's just hard sometimes to give a fair rating you know?

Nope, just like here not everyone uses PS, just the majority. Same thing on some Gimp forums I'm registered on.

I prefer PS. However, GIMP is pretty decent. Not my cup of tea, but if you know it, you can work with it.

Remember, guys, it's just a tool. It's who uses the tool that makes the artwork good or bad.
